Though general strategy can be discussed and drawn while playing I agree that there will be sometime that a particular event in a particular turn might need immediate attention and more time than a day to deal with collectively.

When teams don't need to discuss for a long time about particular turn, the game will progress very fast even if we have 48 h turn timer. It is only the deadline... turn will roll over to the next as soon as the last team hits EOT.
