  • # of Teams

Hello again everyone, this time the poll is really a selection thing, but feel free to post reasons why X teams should be in this.

X = the number of teams you want in the game.

Fewer Teams means more direct warfare, faster turn turnaround, and less tech trading between teams. Also less burnout due to more people per team.

More Teams means more diplomatic warfare, slower turn turnaround, more tech trading between teams, and higher burnout due to fewer members per team.

5 teams, small pangaea map...quick game, diplomacy from the start.
You just wasted six ... no, seven ... seconds of your life reading this sentence.

If we are talking about a pbem-based game, then what Krill said.

I have no preference for # of teams. But I do think every game should have a unique flavor to it.

Let's do a naval map. And I don't mean high sea level continents, where you spent 5000 years on your own. I mean low sea level tiny islands. The kind of map you can circumnavigate in a workboat.

So if we end up with 5.437 as the answer, the small team can blame you.

I think we just found the name for one of the teams

                    "Team 0.437"

                    Sounds good. Impressive name

I voted 7 teams. I'm talking with the guys of the former Latin Lovers team in order to build the group again.

                        I'll keep you informed.

                          Indeed.

Of course the number of teams willreally depend on the nature of the game. As per the pbem vs pitboss discussion in the other thread, a piboss-based game can run effectively with many more teams.

I believe this question is better answered after we decide to do pitboss (or not).

Good point, con. With PBoss, we can have more teams and not worry about the game slowing to a complete crawl.
