  • Some thoughts on the civ

I took a look at the save:

We have pyramids (nice!), but only 3 cities and Egypt (dunno which civ Egypt is) is expanding into us. We have iron (nicer!), but no copper nor horses.

I guess we could try for alphabet, but I don't think we have anything to trade.

I have a pic of our civ - I think we need put the next settler west and grab some of those gems... also, cut off access to marble, which would be nice.

man, is that land to our south west brutal.

    Eygpt = PAL
    Holy Roman Empire = Rabbits

Rabbits have been trying to get into contact with you, so you probably ought to find their email and start talking with them...
You just wasted six ... no, seven ... seconds of your life reading this sentence.

I will look into the save tomorrow. I think we can do some things to improve, but please do not run on autopilot pertaining to our reactions, we need to be innovative.

We are in Representation and slavery.

Who is actually going to play the save?

Looks like we already lost. The previous players obviously did not know how to play a decent game. They squandered the expansion north to close off that isthmus, and now they got PAL, one of the most competitive rusher and micromanagement teams out there, rabid about ladders and scores, like the Borg collective hive mind.

They just managed to get horses by our borders, they are one tile away from our iron. Of course we got some useless desert, but the room to expand is 2 decent cities and 2 filler cities, thats it.

If we are to play this game, PAL has to give us one city, the one with the horses, or we will simply not play the game. If we cannot get that acceptance, we see no need to play the game. I am not investing my time to play target practice for some autistic eggheads that go squarely for scores and statistics and does not want to allow for a balanced and exciting game. They just want to kill us off, with honor. We got two wonders, and one warrior each to guard them, we are already dead, and an attractive target at it.

This is my honest estimate. If we are not given a city to equate the game somewhat, we are not joining.

Automatedteller or someone else, you can go ahead and formulate that letter to PAL and the admins, otherwise I am not playing at least.

              yeah, things look pretty tough.

would the better option be for Banana to retire? I'm only here to help out the game, so they can continue.

We present them that choice, that for Banana to remain a competitive team, we need to level the playing field, otherwise its an insult to play this.

why does my name say moderator? weird.

                  I'm ok with that.

I'm also ok with saying "after looking at the save, we think the best option for the team is that Banana retire"

                  How about something like this:

"After looking at the game, we (AT and Omnistar) believe that Banana is a near untenable situation. We have 3 cities and very poor land to continue to expand - much of the land near is a huge desert.

At this point, we believe that the only way for Banana to be competitive is for PAL to give us a city - there is one that connects a horse resource very near us."

It's probably a little unfair for PAL to just give us a city, so we would have to come to an agreement about what to do in return.

For some reason, I can't connect to the game anymore - it's probably on my end, I keep having to open up VPN's everywhere for work. It might be better once I reboot.

I am inside the game right now, which is why you cannot connect.

We would also like to have a peaceful border moratorium from turn 91 to turn 200, simply to get into the game and fix things. (No one can invade us for the duration, and we cannot invade them). Between you and me, it renders the Egyptian UU irrelevant, and we manage to get our Chinese Special Crossbowmen within that time.

i got some concrete plans to fix the situation.

                      1.

Banapolis is surrounded with crabs, we need to build 2 more workboats (6 turns), then complete lighthouse with slaving and then churn out 3-4 settlers from this city.
The pyramids would shift from Representation to Police State, as soon as we have produced more units than our economy can carry, this will surprise them. When we got enough settlers/workers, we use the food from this city to produce and slave new wonders, first out Moai Statues for offshore hammers, then Great Lighthouse and so on.

                      2. Banana Pudding

This got to be our barracks, even if its close to the enemy, it has most hills, balanced production and so on. Here we mass produce archers from barracks (barracks first) in all varieties, building an archer centric force. This should be the sole function for this city. After we got our archers up (Protective), we build needed specialist forces to break up their stacks.

                      3. Shifting from granary to workboat, as the crab is ours in 3 t from now, workboat to 6 t, then we complete the granary. This city should build our navy site, as well a a moderate science city with incense and iron, which means we can get out a ship or library etc here from time to time, but too weak of a city to make troops, settlers, workers or wonder, or even major buildings.

                      4. Marked off two-three new cities on the map grid., notice we got two real new cities and two fillers. There should be one on their SE border as well.

Since we are 600 BC, we need to be safe at least until 1400 AD (2 milleniums of peace). We need to wait for the Chinese wonders to kick in.

                      Hidden Jewels in this game:

                      Lotsa water resources
                      Pyramids
                      Iron in a risky region
extra stone we may trade for protection

We need a border limit rule to PAL, we may need an added city, and finally, we need to specialize and direct cities better, and we need 5-7 new players here as well.

100 turns of peace and a city and expansion cut off for PAL?

                        That's probably pushing things....

I think we would have to give up some stuff to do that:

                        1) Build no wonders during our peace with the game.
                        2) Ship stone and extra health resources to PAL.
                        3) Found a (not great) city for PAL in, I dunno, 50 turns.
                        4) Ship horses to PAL if they do not have them.

I agree with much of your assement - with Iron and super archers, we might be able to handle a PAL invasion if Rabbit were to help out in the back end, but expansion has to happen.

AT, you are the mod for this forum, so anyone who wants to join the game has to apply to join the forum, then you can authorize them.

Omnistar, if you want the power, best PM DanQ and ask him to give the miniforum mod powers as well.

And yes, we produce numerous units where we are 1 turn from the completion of each of them. This will not be discovered in the official stats or by spying our cities. This means we need to mass produce one of each in each city to make this happen, then specialize our unit productions till we reach the free cost cap, then we go Police State and get 25 more units for free (Theocracy and Vassalage to top it off as we ready for war with these troops, so they get to be state of the art).

We mass produce Cho Hus (or upgrade from archers with some saved gold), then we shift to specialized troops that are 1 turn away from completion, queued up, which all will be Vassalage/Theocracy stock, then we switch on Police State with Pyramids. We can surely endure a 50 % longer war, so what we want to achieve, is to keep a low key resource denial war blocking, ambushing, pillaging and so on, until they get unhappiness problems (we need to be patient with the war weariness advantage from police state)

2nd thoughts, they can keep their southern city, but we set forwards 4 demands:

                              1. Not expand beyond their present southern borders
                              2. Give us the 109 t moratorium
                              3. No trespassing of forces/units into our territory for scouting reasons and/or transit reasons
                              4. Agree to trade resources

We can position this bilaterally to PAL only, and let them know we want to play, but we need a binding agreement on this, and a violation of it will lead PAL to forfeit the game.
