  • Swiss Pauli posted some turn update info in the chat room while Apolyton was down:

    Swiss_Pauli: Updates whilst poly down
Swiss_Pauli: 1. Mutal razed, losing 2 Curries (and a naan)
Swiss_Pauli: Unis whipped, so A1 can start oxford next turn
Swiss_Pauli: chatted with Banana. He has 3 Knights left to upgrade
Swiss_Pauli: when we give him horses in a couple of turns
Swiss_Pauli: but it looks likely that pal will soon get a 2nd Iron (see screenshot)
    Swiss_Pauli: http://i166.photobucket.com/albums/u...Shot0138-1.jpg
Swiss_Pauli: Iron is 1S of Split, and Banana's forces aren't grouped together
Swiss_Pauli: I advised him to do this ASAP, and that Split was the likely prime target
Swiss_Pauli: though I advised that PAL would probably split some forces.
Swiss_Pauli: he expects pal to attack in 2-3 turns
    Swiss_Pauli: Imperio's WW is around 320!
Swiss_Pauli: Ours was 79 before Mutal assault
Swiss_Pauli from x.x.x.255 left the chat 2 hours ago

I think Swiss may have the war weariness backwards; we should be the ones with the much higher WW, thanks to them having Statue of Zeus and much of the fighting being in their territory. But then again, maybe not!

I cleared the chat room after posting, to avoid accidental information getting out.

    • The WW info came from Banana, so he could have got it the wrong way around

      • Thoughts/actions on the current turn:

        - Scouted out Acre to see what was inside, and the city is completely empty!

Imperio wisely evacuated their defenders, who would only have been slaughtered next turn. Pretty smart. In case the picture is unclear, I suspect the longbow/pike are NW of the city, and the two workers are NW-N, in Imperio territory. We can occupy the defenseless city next turn (and probably gift to Banana?) Red dot is a future city location, but not for quite some time. We've over-expanded already!
        - Swapped Upper Burgundy to the newly completed plains river farm tile. This gets us growth in 2t, which is much better than growth in 5t (and we can pick up the plains hill mine again at the new size).
        - Changed the build in Constantinople yet again, from courthouse to granary. Yes, the courthouse is important. However, the city has no granary, and that has to come before anything else. Personally, I would let the granary build for a few turns, then whip when the food box is half full and we can pick up the oasis + rice tiles for a +5 food surplus (this requires waiting for a couple turns for the borders to expand once and grab the rice tile). We can then do courthouse after that, likely whipped as well.
        - Great General is heading to Green Acres for extra draft XP, right? I presume it is...
        - There aren't a whole lot of places we can draft in the immediate future, since we've gone through another drafting cycle recently. Mellow Yellow (4t) and Red Herring (2t) can draft when they grows to size 6. We have to be careful here, because we are going to have humongous war weariness from fighting Imperio, thanks to that stupid Statue of Zeus. It's already getting to be a problem in some of our larger cities.
        - Ended turn out of courtesy, since we were at the 24 hour limit.

Now for the hard part, planning out worker actions:

        - New Worker (and we need a new name here!) probably just heads south six tiles towards our developing cities. We would like to get a road tile on the desert tile 4E of Cape Town, to allow our units to sally forth onto the Imperio road network, but it can wait until later.
        - Winston/Dave move 5 tiles south and finish up the "2t mine" grassland hill mine. This is just busy work getting them into position for the following turn, when they can start doing some real good.
        - Steve is kind of interesting. Since Bluebell and Red Herring are good on tile improvements for the moment, I would move Steve to the tile 1NW of Upper Burgundy and farm this tile. It gets Steve moving in the right direction towards the south, and we genuinely do need a farm on that tile (to bring irrigation towards UB's rice).
        - Bernard/Helmholtz move 1S and build a farm on the same tile as Steve.
        - Syme should probably go 5 tiles east and work on the sugar plantation at Sweet Tooth. This will do more good than improving Pink or Something Fishy, which both have improved tiles.
        - John/Parsons/Max all go east onto the banana tile and work on the plantation there. We don't have this resource connected to our trade network yet, so we must build first the plantation and then a road. Thus it's not wasting moves to have them all work on it together. (Obviously, some or all of them will then finish the quarry on the stone next!)
        - Bob/Erik/Nok Tok obviously build a pasture on the horses tile. And the two units on the front lines (O'Brien/Mustapha) are naturally free for combat engineer duty as sunrise sees fit.

Those are my thoughts - if someone else wants to suggest otherwise, be my guest!

          How about Naldo

Worker actions seem fine to me.

I was thinking that too, but wondered ifhe might take it the wrong way.

            • So name it something like "Naldo is the man!" or something like that. Or maybe name a curassier "Don Naldo" or something...

              • Mutal gone! Well done.
We should have left the HA nearby, in case their mini stack goes for our injured. We then could have killed them.

I'm not sure of this. Covering our Cuirassiers would have resulted in HAs defending versus a pike, musket, and holkan, which would have been easy victories. Then their longbow would have odds on one of our wounded Cuirassiers. Leaving the HAs in the area doesn't loose anymore units, but it keeps them off our road network. Plus to actually mop up victorious Imperio units we'd have to assume Imperio's pike would actually be substantially wounded attacking a Cuirassier at around 90% odds.

                  • Looks like Imperio will miss their turn. Only 30mins to go.

Too bad for them, but I think we should just move on.

EDIT: Just saw that sunrise paused the game. Hmm, not sure it is always up to RB to make sure everything runs fair and smooth.

                    • Sunrise is hosting the game and lost internet access for a while yesterday. So I think it's definitely right to pause the game until everyone can play.

                        • Why does Imperio get a pause? They haven't logged in a single time in the past 48 hours, and the game was only down for 6 of them. Honestly, they couldn't look at the game even once in the other 42 hours? Even after it was obvious from CivStats that we had burned down their capital?!

Maybe I'm a hardass about this, but I believe that there's no reasons to make excuses for lack of commitment and shoddy team dynamics. Donovan's a solo team himself, and he has no problem checking the save multiple times per turn. Why are we forced to help our enemies? Naldo didn't even bother to post anything in the General Forum. Imperio just doesn't care enough, and they should suffer the in-game penalties. Be it on their own heads.

sunrise, PLEASE do not put us back 14 hours. Imperio did NOT ask for any kind of extension. They had plenty of time to do their turn!

                          • @Sullla, I think this is one of those cases where we have to avoid the appearance of improprietry even if there isn't any going on.

Unless we get an approval from the game admin, I think sunrise should take a save of the 8sec-to go point and then switch back to the 14hr save.

                            • From the other thread:

EDIT: Not sure if Krill is joking or not.

Here is my position: We've not heard from Imperio, so we have no way of knowing if they plan to play this turn or not. I wish they had commented last night or at least today, but that's another issues. I'd prefer not to reload and make all of the rest of us wait. At the same time obviously my connection was down for several hours, and if Imperio did intend to play during that time then I am happy to accommodate them.

                              • Well, ultimately it is not my call, but I would not hold up the game for an indefinite period of time for a team that never logged into the game and never asked or commented for additional time, nor gave any public mention at all in the general forum.

I was happy to see that Krill shared similar thoughts.
