  • State of Empire?

Could somebody post an overview of our empire. Not the old style that Sulla gave up on because it was taking too much time, but just an overview for people who want to quickly catch up. (It looks like a lot has happened in the two weeks I was away.)

Here are the things that would be most helpful:

    1. Current diplomatic status and in-game deals. (OB and resource trades.)

    2. The current (and pre-Golden Age) demographics for each empire for easy comparison.

    3. Tech situation. (What techs are we up/down.)

    4. Current diplomatic agreements (including the ones we consider to be void), as well as past agreements that have been violated or fulfilled. (Including supporting communication.)

This can even be made a sticky and regularly updated, so everybody can get a quick overview of the situation.

PS Also a list of current questions for discussion with thread links would be helpful.

    Here is a start:

    1. Diplomatic Status:
    Templars - War
Imperio - Peace (until T164), OB
    PAL - None
    Rabbits - OB, Dye/Nothing (until T157)
    Banana - OB, Dye/Incense, Copper/Nothing, Silk/Nothing, Wine/Nothing, Horse/Nothing (until T164)

    2. Technology Status:
    (Wants / Can Trade / Can't Trade / Can't See)
Templars - Nationalism / Theology / Music - lacks Guilds, Banking
Imperio - Drama / Gunpowder / Paper, Theology, Optics, Music
Banana - Nothing / Nothing / Paper, Theology, Optics, Music, Gunpowder
PAL - Drama / Paper, Optics, Music / Theology, Gunpowder / Education - lacks Banking
Rabbits - Literature, Drama / None / None

Could Sulla or mh fill in the Demographics comparison.

PS We are in a huge tech hole compared to everybody, not just PAL, so we have to focus on improving economy. We still don't have any cottages or even workers in the south.

Our tech situation could be better, but I wouldn't go quite as far as to say we're in a huge hole. PAL is the only team definitively ahead of us; we would be in the swim of things if Banana hadn't gone and messed up the Gunpowder deal that we negotiated with them. At present, we tech about as well as Imperio or Banana, and that's with our civ paying massive outlays on military expenses. (Rabbits and Templars are no longer worth mentioning.) It also bears mentioning that we have quite a few smaller cities that are growing up to par, while our rivals are all out of room to expand, a good sign for the future. We plan next to research Paper quickly (at extremely discounted deflated tech cost) and then lightbulb Education with our upcoming Great Scientist, trading that to Banana for Astronomy. Really the key thing is to make sure that we don't fall more a generation behind in military tech - we can compete so long as we avoid that happening.

In short, I think we're doing about the best we can, despite having spent the past 25t in a 2-front war with a total loss of trade route income. Yes, that's going to put us a little bit behind the 8-ball.

Here is the Power rating graph, current for this turn (well, last turn). We are doing extremely well here, and have good reason to expect a successful campaign against what's left of Templars. More details on the exact Soldier count breakdown in the C&D thread.

This is our "treaty" with Imperio (posting the English version):

      Definitive Proposal:
      - Peace agreement

      - NAP for 40 turns

      - Nationalism for gunpowder

      - Alliance against Templars
It is important that you do not mention this alliance to PAL, Banana, or the Templars. They should not know that we are allied. We will say it is our unilateral decision. It is OK for them to know that there is a NAP between us. This is very important because we have to explain this to those who have been our friends up to this point in the best way possible. For example we do not like you sending three-way diplomacy to Banana, Realms, and Imperio.

      - The Templars' four cities are ours. You only need to capture Jerusalem and give it to Imperio once it is under your control.

      - We will belatedly declare war on the Templars once you have captured Jerusalem. Although if we can we will do it beforehand. This is important to prevent our image from deteriorating too much and this way we will hide the alliance a little and better surprise Templars.

They did not supply Gunpowder to us (Imperio traded for Nationalism with PAL), so we are planning on screwing them over in some fashion after Imperio enters the war against Templars. The exact nature of what we do depends on the situation then, most likely either not handing back Jerusalem, giving it back but crushing the city with culture, and/or sneak-attacking their uber stack to get in the first strike with cats and eliminate it in one crushing blow. Ideally, we can then run over some or all of their core with our army of drafted Oromos.

I hope this was helpful. At the moment, our main focus is the military campaign against Templars, which has gone VERY well thus far.

Thanks. Do you still have the nice table you used to have with GNP, Production, etc. numbers for each civ derived from graphs?

I'll post my thoughts on Imperio deal when I catch up on everything else, but it doesn't sound very reasonable. (Why should we give them all of Templar lands on a silver platter after destroying Templar military?) So backstabbing them might be the only viable option. (Just not giving them Jerusalem wouldn't be a good idea, because it will make them unwilling to cooperate with us, leaving us with worst of both worlds: Templar lands in Imperio's hands, and no trading partners besides Banana.)
