*Knights and HAs are needed to threaten Mutal, and they're our best defensive units (not because they can defend well, but because they can cover many cities at once.)
*Elephants are irreplaceable, and are our only units that defend with odds versus enemy knights, as well as Curaissars if PAL gifts tech to Imperio later.
*Cats don't really go obsolete, and will be crucial to a good loss-to-kill ration when we fight the Imperio mega-stack.
*CRII maces on the other hand are nice, but are no stronger than Drill II Oromo's really...and Drill II upgraded Rifles aren't bad either.
