The Double Move Rule : 48 hour turns

    1. No double moves during a time of war, except as noted below.

During times of war all concerned Civ's should allow for 1/2 the turn timer (24 hours) to pass between moves if the other Civs involved in the war have not moved since a concerned Civ has moved.

In other words: You cannot make moves during periods of war until either one of two things have occured:

    i. All other concerned Civs in a war (being at war in game) have made moves/completed one turn since you have made your moves/completed a turn.

ii. 1/2 the turn timer (24 hours) has past since you made your moves/completed your turn.

The reason "made your moves/completed your turn" is worded that way is that a team can log in make some moves, log out, log back in and make more moves. Once a team makes ANY moves the requirement that says a team must make a move/complete a turn is fullfilled.

    2. No moving of units after you have pressed 'End Turn'

    3. No double moves of a Settler, at any time, if an opponents Settler is in the same vicinity as yours, and visible, except as in point 1.ii. above.

    4. No double moves of a unit, at any time, if a goody hut is nearby, and an opponents unit is in the same vicinity, and visible, except as in point 1.ii. above.

    5. Double moves should be allowed at all other times in order to help speed game play.

    6. Play fair, be a gentleperson. We are all here to have fun and enjoy ourselves. Let's do just that and not screw our fellow gamers over by bending the rules to give ourselves an unfair advantage.

I've posted this up to take debate away from the turnplayer thread. I think we should ask Krill if a team move last when at peace then moves just after the timer ticks over and declares war whether this would fall foul of the double move rule. I wouldn't want to decide for ourselves and be wrong.

I thought that is exactly what the double move is? Hiding your HA stack in the fog of war, then move it to the border at the end of turn X and move it 2 tiles at the beginning of Turn X+1. And the defender will never know what hit him.

I think point 6 is the most important one.

If, at the very end of a turn you are moving your troops to the border to attack next turn then it is not "peacetime" is is wartime, despite not actually having declared war. So that won't be allowed. I'm sure Krill will reply to this thread when he sees it.

If he doesn't reply to the one I posted in the main forum (now edited to ooops)...

              Another question to Krill:

Does any person logging in to check things out count as "making a move", or can team members log in and out without forefitting first move until they hit "End Turn"? (This is a big issue for us, because we have a lot of people logging in just to get more familiar with the situation without moving anything.)

I think the HA example is allowed by the rule so long as the first move is in peacetime. It shouldn't be allowed, but that's how I read things.

Even the primary war rule doesn't seem totally neat. It looks like if we have initiative in turn 1, and Imperio moves RIGHT after we do, they can move first the next turn. What am I missing?

That one's easy: you can log in as many times as you want, but you have 24 hrs to complete your moves. If you're moving second, then you mustn't move any units until the other team has ended their turn/24 hours have elapsed.

If you look at civstats, Rabbits are still logging in to check what PAL is doing long after they complete their moves (they are allowed to change city builds).

That isn't my reading of the rules. It looks to me that "Once a team makes ANY moves the requirement that says a team must make a move/complete a turn is fullfilled" means that Imperio can move right after we do. As long as our first movement and their last movement are both during the first 24 hours of a turn, why couldn't Imperio then move first the next turn?

Can I get a Krill clarification???

I think it's clear (though my post wasn't): you can log in as many times as you want, but once you start to move units then you must move them all during that session. In any event, I'm sure Krill can clarify.

The turn order is fixed: Team A always moves first, and Team B second. The order can only flip if Team A doesn't play in time (first 24hrs).

Super. I'd love an official Krill-ification though

OK, after trying to get my head around that rule for the past hour...

Whoever ends their turn first gets the first place in the next turns turn order. The corresponding part of the rule that states that point is the second sentence of rule 1. Even if Imperio wait until t130 to declare war, if you went first on t129, you get to move first on t130 because they have to give you 24 hours to let you log in and make a move.

Now, the problem with the rules is that it if one of you logs in and then logs out, that rule states that you have made your move and then Imperio can do whatever they want. So for you to keep the full 24 hours, you either have to have one person stay logged in at all times and then post screenies to the forum, and have that one person make all of the moves. I can't unilaterally change that rule, you need to get it changed by having all of the teams agree to it.
You just wasted six ... no, seven ... seconds of your life reading this sentence.

And Krill, if we DON'T have a person logged in for the entire 24 hours, and Imperio moves early in the turn but after us, do we still get to move first next turn? Or is it open?

EDIT: So this really suggests we need just one turn player, and for them to play early. As long as no units are moved we can still change builds and tile assignments, right?

What about queuing moves on units with no movement? If Sunrise logs in at the beginning of the turn, moves all of the units, and logs out, and then Imperio logs in and out and ends turn, and T-Hawk logs in and ONLY changes tile assignments, city builds, research, AND queues worker actions for workers with no movement, would RB still move first next turn? What if T-Hawk didn't touch the workers? Would it make any difference if I ended the turn when I played at the beginning?

@ Krill- Thanks for the clarification on the turn order rule, but are you sure of your reading of the move rule?

The reason "made your moves/completed your turn" is worded that way is that a team can log in make some moves, log out, log back in and make more moves. Once a team makes ANY moves the requirement that says a team must make a move/complete a turn is fullfilled.

This surely allows for logging in and out without making moves (i.e. moving units), but requires you to make all your moves in one session after moving the first unit.
