This is not my vote, but what about a 3rd option - building HG but sending 1-3 of the 3 workers there otherwise. As Dreylin pointed out above, it's not so much the production but the worker turns.

Cons to moving any workers up there is that they need a bunch of turns to even get up there.

I think that SP put forward a plan to expedite Winston & Bernard up there, roading the route from PD which helps. Going to ask for clarification in that thread.

My Vote: I think I'm slightly (55/45) in favour of pursuing HG.

I vote Gardens with minimal worker assistance.

I vote HG with planned worker assistance (3 workers) provided we can get a metal and or horse deal sorted out.

For the info If we do 3 chops (the chops from the workers that are already in progress), we will free up 2 workers at T114 and another one at T115, and delay HG by about 3-4 turns. We could free up 2 workers around T115 and probably only delay HG by one turn (T119)

I vote for HG, perhaps with fewer workers, so wonder takes longer.

The problem is that Archers are completely obsolete and Chariots aren't much better. So there is nothing we could produce at Pink until we have HBR.

EDIT: Also, we'll have to remove all workers from frontlines in about 8 turns (as soon as we see Imperio units approaching at turn 120), so it might not make much sence to send all of our workers in that direction.

Captured workers are worth chopped forests if that's the trade off.

                  Here's the progress at Pink:

Text in black indicates the current actions and completion dates for the chops.

In red is an alternative proposal for Syme to delay his first chop so that we get 1 chop for the aqueduct (John), and one for HG. This would allow us to whip the adequct for 2 pop, one of which would grow back before completion of HG (I think). Is this (a) correct, and (b) worthwile even if it's correct?

I am pretty sure that I simmed out something similar to that. I definitely simmed out a 1, 2, and 3 pop whip and it seemed to be consensus to keep it with just one whip (which we already did on the granary).

I am actually going out of town tomorrow so will be unavailable till Sunday at the earliest.

For the record, in the current plan, Syme chops the tile SW of PD, then moves to the tile E of PD and chops it.

Parsons and John both chop the tile S of PD after their current chops

From a defensive POV, I prefer the alternate Syme plan where the Eastern froest is cleared first.

T-Hawk, do you have any words of micro-wisdom for this?

I haven't been following the HG plans in detail, I'm afraid. I'll assume Swiss's plan is correct and will address whether it's worthwhile. That mostly depends on what tile the additional citizen would be working. Forest is bad, a citizen producing 1 hammer / turn can produce more hammers by being whipped. Resources and mined hills are nearly always worthwhile to keep.

To micro-time whips, you generally wait until as late as possible. Either right before the hammer accumulation crosses a whip threshold boundary, to maximize productivity from the citizen before he gets killed. Or right before the city grows, so that growth can be achieved at a lower food cost on a smaller box.

Well done all. HGs on T118 which I am sure was covered by at least 1 of our plans.
