  • State of the Empire: Turn 95

Generally speaking, this was a much better 10 turns for Team RB. We conducted some rapid and profitable expansion, negotiated diplomatically to prevent Imperio from slingshotting Civil Service, and set in place plans that will almost certainly land us the Great Library in the near future. These were offset by negatives that we largely couldn't control, over on the eastern continent...

    Headline News

    - Team RB settled two cities in this period, Something Fishy (T89) and Green Acres (T95), for six overall. There's an excellent chance that we'll control two more cities before the next state of the empire report on T105 - thanks to the barb city!

In other city founding news, PAL settled Pi-Ramesses (city #7) on T85 and Giza (city #8) on T90, Templars founded Jericho (city #4) on the iron on T85, and Imperio settled Mayapan (city #5) on their eastern coast on T93. Not sure what Rabbits and Banana are doing, aside from sleeping at the wheel...

    - Imperio built the Oracle on T92, and slingshotted Feudalism with it. While this wasn't exactly great news, we did manage to prevent them from landing Civil Service, thanks to negotiating with PAL.

    - The worst news was the outbreak of a war between PAL and Rabbits on T94. Based on analysis of the Power graph and Rabbits' lame-duck posts in the general forum, expect a rapid collapse from the Rabbits team. Not good.

    - We also successfully completed a one-sided Monotheism for Code of Laws trade with PAL on T93. The only other trade deal of note was PAL and Imperio swapping Code of Laws for Mathematics on the same turn. Relatively quiet on the trading front.

    - We made it to the eastern continent! But we haven't found anything over there as yet. Hopefully we'll get some contact before the next 10 turns are up.

Continuing with the rundown of domestic stuff...

    General

    Current Turn:

    Active Turn Player:
    Sullla

    Status:

    Cities

    Airstrip One [guarded by Xena]:
    Worker (5t)
    Emphasizing commerce and research

Comments: Our capital is maturing extremely well as a research powerhouse. Hopefully we'll have the Great Library here in about 10 turns. Red tiles are currently being pre-chopped.

Pink Dot [guarded by Britney's Spears]:
    Settler (5t)
    Intended for protected "yellow" spot

Comments: Still building settlers here right now. Future military and wonder city.

China Beach [guarded by Ms Piggy]:
Work Boat (3t) for Green Acres

Comments: Once the work boat finishes, we start working the clams and floodplains cottage, while running two Scientist specialists to generate an extra Great Scientist.

Cape Town [guarded by Diana and Billy Jean Tell]:
    Axeman (1t)

Comments: This will probably be our Heroic Epic city, which we can get started on early and complete fast with marble. Worker is currently mining the hill tile in red.

    Something Fishy [guarded by Svava]:
    Granary (49t)
Growing like a weed working the fish tile

Comments: Still just getting started. Workers are chop/mine/roading the grassland hill tile in red. I would like to use this forest chop on a work boat for the yellow city that hasn't been founded yet, as this seems like the best opportunity to do so. In an ideal world, we would trade Aesthetics to Imperio for Math at the start of next turn, then get a free work boat from the chop. If that doesn't happen, we'll need another turn or two to get it completed.

Green Acres [guarded by Robyn Hood]:
    Granary (60t)

Comments: Also just getting started, work boat hooks up the clams next turn. Question for the team - do we want Moai Statues at Something Fishy or Green Acres? It's going to be one of them, right? We'll have stone once we capture the barb city, and can get started next after granary.

I don't have time to do all the foreign stuff as usual - it's a busy time of the year. What I will do is post a screenshot of the Demographics with some quick commentary, and a link to the updated Excel file that I use.

Let's go through these categories individually:

      GNP
      Imperio: 128
      RB: 79
      PAL: 51
      Templars: 51

Imperio continues to dominate, thanks to their triple gold resources. However, we're starting to put some real distance between us and the rest of the teams. Some of this is pre-req bonus research, but most of it is legit. We can boost the number all the way up to 91 by running the Scientists in China Beach (which we will be doing shortly).

      Food/Production
      PAL: 75/32 (107 total)
      RB: 56/35 (91 total)
      Imperio: 46/30 (76 total)
      Templars: 36/25 (61 total)

We've made great stride in this measuring category as well, thanks to planting more cities and PAL doing some major whipping of theirs. A solid #2 in Food and Production behind PAL.

      Power
      PAL: 144k
      RB: 97k
      Templars: 85k
      Imperio: 79k

PAL has been the big mover here, going from 84k ten turns ago to their huge current total. Our best guess is that they have been whipping units massively over the past ten turns, especially War Chariots (with our horses... ) Fortunately, Templars and Imperio have been completely flat - whatever they've been building, it hasn't been military. That's allowed us to continue our rapid expansion in relative safety.

      ADG Stats

That's all for now. Happy holidays to all!
