... PAL made a double move again.

The first screenshot is taken at the onset of the turn, and shows the situation as "tonyciv4" says they've done mistakenly in the Pitboss Connection thread. (playing before their turn).

Now, I just logged in and the PAL stack took out the stack I moved by mistake next to them as seen in the second screenshot, by a player named "crescentfresh".

Or those guys simply don't check the forum nor communicate with each other, or they did this deliberately to force the game to be reset. Or of course this is the work of a single player using another nick.

Perhaps this screenshot makes more clear what they did.
I put by mistake a stack on the spot where you see the axeman and spearman (9 of our chariot) earlier this turn, and now that stack has been destroyed by PAL.

Btw, these pictures are NOT to be linked outside our forum. There's too much information on them!

          Indeed.

PAL have us on the ropes. Why do they need to do this?
I don't know why he saved my life. Maybe in those last moments he loved life more than he ever had before. Not just his life - anybody's life, my life. All he'd wanted were the same answers the rest of us want. Where did I come from? Where am I going? How long have I got? All I could do was sit there and watch him die.

It might be far-guessed but I think a PAL participant logged in, saw a situation in which units of ours had a chance to go beyond their main army and threaten undefended, or lightly defended cities further on.

                  This is why pitboss sucks.

Who's in green, btw? Me colorblind ass can't make it out on the screenies while it's over green terrain.

But, I'm not getting the problem.

We moved a stack by mistake, they wiped it out. What's the problem there? How/where was the double move?

The double move was because PAL moved first this turn and they're obliged to play only after 24 hours by admin rule (courtesy of their first double move). So, they played. Announced they played first by mistake, we agreed we would do a 'double move' to get back synchronised, but appearantly another teammember of PAL played again after I made a mistake (which could have turned out good if we were allowed to continue on that one).

If 'pitboss' sucks, what is a better way to play?

                          I mis-spoke.

Pitboss is great. SIMULTANEOUS TURNS (which most folks consider synonymous with pitboss, but pitboss can just enforce a clock on a turn order system) SUCK.

Simultaneous turns is faster, yes. The cost of that speed is the loss of turn order, and the possibility (probability, frankly) of double moves. It has happened in EVERY game I've played.

If people don't like the fixed turn order, maybe a system akin to Samurai Swords (old board game) should be instituted (random turn order with option of 'buying' a specific turn order) in future Civ games.

PoV from someone who played alot of simul turns: it's OK, the only problem with simul turns in pitboss is that 8 seconds isn't long enough to counter a double move, but it's fine for online play. Ideally in CiV, the double move timer would be changeable in the options when you start a game, or from teh pitboss.exe. Change it to, say, 8 hours, and you could just "allow" double moves as you would still have 8 hours to move units before the double move became possible. That's possibly the biggest problem with pitboss.
You just wasted six ... no, seven ... seconds of your life reading this sentence.

Oh, I think it's fine for interpersonal games. Accepting that double moves happen, is fine, even.

I really don't think the speed people are attempting to maintain is best suited for demogames, and double moves in a demogame are unacceptable.

But, maybe that's just my schedule getting in the way as I get older.
