  • Turn 88 - 675 BC

Well, here we are again after Thanksgiving break.

Caerbannog is about to finish the library. The workers are roading north. What shall we do next in Caerbannog? Another worker/settler, or military?

For reference: we have 6 axes, 1 warrior, 1 spearman and 2 chariots.

    Diggers Warren...

... has finished an axeman. I started a spear there, but perhaps another chariot would be better?

      Valley Hutch...

... has finished the barracks. I put an Axeman in the queue. 7 turns training time. Other suggestions?
The workers have finished a pasture on the sheep, increasing growth and production. I assume they road to Aachen (our most western city) next turn?

        Aachen...

... is walling happily ever after.

You see 4 of our axeman here. Weekend is over so perhaps UnO may have returned to update on the harassment plan. Otherwise, I suppose moving the stack one more plot 1wards.

          Other news...

Our warrior is heading towards Aachen. There's still a PaL warrior traling him.

Pottery done in 3 turns, with a net loss of 2 /turn. We currently have 40 in our treasury.
will finish Writing in 2 turns, Pal will finish the Courthouse tech next turn. No problems keeping us ahead of the others -wise.

            Caerbannog - military

            Diggers - Chariot

            Valley Hutch workers - road

Aachen - rename Watership Down or Sandleford

              Ah, a reaction.

Diggers switched to Chariot, and Aachen renamed.

PaL has taken us serious now. They are hoarding gold again (28 turns to CoL instead of 1 turn) and the worker working on the elephant resource has disappeared.
Powerwise, they're a bit above us now.

Wait, why's the stack only 3 strong?

And can I request a roading crew towards the front, please?

                Any word from banananaananana?

And, we REALLY need irrimigationery things to make us fat.

Is there a purpose to roading north of the capitol?

And, um, does Caerbannog have a lighthouse?

I don't see the graffic, but I recall bringing it up before. If not, I would favor one there. IT SHOULD BE WORKING ON GROWING, WONDERS, AND WORKER/SETTLERS WHILE WE BUILD MILITARY ELSEWHERE.

A lighthouse would increase both the fishies and the lake, making Caerbannog a very good food pump.

The purpose of a CHOKE is to OUTBUILD your opponent. We can't do that if we go all military. Come on, where's all you buildererers? Go nuts in Caerbannog. With any luck you can have another city or two REAL quick to go nuts with, too.

If we have a realistic shot at one of the other stone wonders, I'ld love to see it started there, too.

We should probably work the lake then, what with the library and all.

Library is/will be finished in turn 89. I'm in favour of building non-military stuff there too. Lighthouse is in town, library is about done, and IIRC a monument and the Great Wall is there too.
I don't recall out of my head if there's any more stone wonders left.

Roading is done so the next settler will pop a new city faster, but our city expenses have really risen alot with the founding of Aachen, so I don't know if it's such a good idea to found new cities at this stage.
Its done, so I'll sent those 2 workers near Caerbannog frontside to do other things on their way.

Btw, what's that irriwhatever you mention, UnO? Agriculture?

And how big do you want the stack to be? There's a fourth axeman trailing them, and a chariot and another axeman on the other side of the PAL elephant town.

I thought we were doing 4 axes and 2 chariots in the stack. Why are some on the other side? The chariot can catch up. Any further axes should hang around on defender duty.

Yes, farms, irrigation, whatever CIV is calling it. Allowed by Agriculture, yes. Why can't we keep the names of things the same between the games...Anyhow, we have wheat and rice, at least, that could use improving, and allow more flexibility in our cities.

Okay. Next turn the fourth axe can join. As it is now, the 3-axe stack is in the 2-1-1 position you wanted them, and the first chariot is 3 turns away from that position. I'll make a "turn 89" thread tomorrow.

Building non-military stuff in Caerbannog is probably a good idea I change my earlier vote for military build...
