We have met these guys. I've put a "Welcome..." message in their diplobox to tell them we know they're there.

For starters, they don't have Alphabet, so tech trading is not possible.
But they do have a good trading relation with PAL it seems. PaL has quite a number of extra techs, among which Iron Working.

Well, that's bad. (about PAL) How bad is it though? Been an age since I could play CivIV, but I recall that being rather bad.

First they need to have iron. Second swordsman (if they have iron) are no match to axes. It's only getting bad when they get Machinery.
