I'm guessing that PAL was the last to play and hit end of turn, so the next turn came up before Rob was able to make the change in the warren.

Well, I suppose the excess will go to the next research anyway.
Unless... we could crank up the espionage slider to 100% this turn and gain a good advantage in points on PAL while The Wheel will still be done next turn.

Research and production

Partners, did you notice our mighty army is composed by 1 warrior?
To be able to protect us from barbs and from PAL (worse barbs if I
read well your posts) we need to connect the copper resource to
Caerbannog.
And this means the settler; change from stone to interior lake would
delay the settler (it should be -3H +2F, and total hammers from even
to odd, so still more one loss).
And, after the settler, perhaps 1 warrior, then +1 worker to speed said
metal connection.
We do need badly research,that's true; but still more,and more urgently, production.
So, we need more production from Caerbannog. The quarry shall help,
but next is the pastured cow (+1F +2H /turn).
And about next research...IW or Sailing what for? Or a early religion to
pray at our grave? We need first AH to pasturize the cows, and see
horses as a bonus.
Because we want now IMHO to protect and to expand.

IW -> Swordsman
Sailing -> Compass(with IW), more food (with Light house) and more production (with Moai Statues).
