    From Realms Beyond

Greetings from the Civ4 BtS Democracy Game team RealmsBeyond ...

I'm not sure if you are HRE or Qin in the game so if you could assist our communication with this information, it would be greatly appreciated. Please use this email address for all communication with us. We look forward to meeting you 'in-game' and building an open and free exchange of information, ideas and stories.

    Regards,

    Ruff

Should we hang him from a tree or a street lamp?

Actually this fella seems to want peace with everyone so will be not much particular help to anyone imo. Just an early take.

I suggest we be much more ambitious in our communication. We need friends and we need enemies and we need to let the friends know that they are being treated specially.

This guy, I'd ask him if that is a form letter sent to all (he can't know many) or if he really wants a particular relationship with the Rabbits. Furthermore, I'd mention the above gibberish he sent is without value. We need intel. Intel developes trust. If he wants a trust relationship as a first step he needs to give us intel in a timely manner, and visa versa.

Slap him around, then offer him something. Tell him we have fish and whale. Something... let them discuss that, get them thinking about rabbits. See if they come back with something interesting.

Are we actually allowed to 'communicate properly' before we have actually met someone ingame??

        I would hope not.

I see the above email as testing email accounts and touching base, as such I think we should send an equally meaningless email back.....

Oh I see. Maybe something along the lines of what you put forward.

'Yes I see that we have email communications as you have shown, and thank you. Should we really develope a relationship though until our units meet?'

          What do you think Rob?

I agree with Lancer. Let them know the communication line is good, but that we're not willing to discuss relationships until we formerly meet in-game.

Just the fact that such a preliminary contact occured must tell us something. First of all, should it have occured?

I have no experience with multi since Civ II ages ago, so I don't know.

Lancer has just volunteered as Minister of Dis-Information!
I don't know why he saved my life. Maybe in those last moments he loved life more than he ever had before. Not just his life - anybody's life, my life. All he'd wanted were the same answers the rest of us want. Where did I come from? Where am I going? How long have I got? All I could do was sit there and watch him die.

                      Happy to help.

Still thinking about this communication, hell there's not much else going on to think about. So, not that we should complain if these guys stretched the unwritten rules a bit, there's no gain in that for rabbits. However it was done, and it is meaningless. That's got to tell us something. This fella is jumping the gun...that's mildly interesting at a time when interesting is hard to come by in international affairs. This was a silly communication. Can we send him a silly one back? Something that establishes a meaningless swap that might bring a valued trade in the future? Like we'll trade 2 smilies for a smiley. Something dumb but fun.

Maybe that's not worth the typing already commited.

I'd say, go for it! Good exercise for when diplomacy really becomes a poker game.

Exactly! When the chips are down we raise the point of our long history of having fun, exchanging meaningless stuff, so can't you please help us in our war w/ blah?

                            Hm?

Just answer them that we are HRE, and are glad to help. We look forward to meeting in game so that we can exchange the wonders of carrots and cabbage or something to that effect.
