  • Our civilization choices : From a roleplaying perspective......

OK, we have a few days before the game setting polls are over with and we have to start thinking about our civ choice......

From a purely roleplaying perspective, who would you like to play and why........

    Post away rabbits!!!
Let your every day be full of joy, love the child that holds your hand, let your wife delight in your embrace, for these alone are the concerns of humanity.

Imperialistic : That breeding kicks in again to make plenty of new rabbit hutches for our expanding population. Fearsome fighters when threatened means that the cream of rabbit fighters rises to the top quickly.

or could be suitable for :

Creative : The cultural radius could be thought of as our little bunnies spreading across the countryside.......

Industrious : We're always busy beavering (well rabbiting) away making our dens bigger and deeper. This industriousness could be channeled into making other mighty works.......

Protective : It may just be me, but I just can't dream up an image of a bullyboy thug rabbit!!! Hares I can imagine throwing there weight around, but not nice cuddly rabbits. On the other hand.....

Aggressive : We are The Rabbits of Caerbannog!! We do rip the throats out of valiant knights. We do strike fear into all far and wide. We may be cuddly, but we're killers!!!!

Organized : I've never seen a disorganized rabbit, they always seem to know exactly what they are doing, and exactly where they are going. A slim connection I know, but I'm reaching the end of my list here.......

Really interesting trait combo - and Cossacks - one of the most powerful mid game UU's.

If this game is going to be played on a Terra map, I'd like to propose Portugal. Plenty of commerce from the seas with the UB, and first dibs on a oceanic transport that in the right circumstances can be used for a surprise amphibious attack.

For a more landbased map I propose Charlemagne. Splendid unique unit when Engineering comes around, and when we're there the castle can be build for defense AND extra trade. Not to forget the unique building, giving us a quarter more support leeway to settle/occupy territory.

The Caerbannog point is well-put -- but what was that killer wabbit, our forbear, trying to do? Protect his den, of course! From those nasty trespassing knights with their coconuts and hand grenades! You'd be scared too if you were the size of a wabbit! So maybe we ought to go Protective/Imperialistic (Charlemagne) or Expansive/Protective (Mao).

But Mao means cat! Sworn enemy of the wabbit. On the other hand, Charlemagne's "French" were the ones to eventually defeat Arthur Pendragon, with the aid of the cops. (Couldn't have been Louis's French -- wrong time period.) So how 'bout those Holy Romans! We can even change the civ name to Caerbannog so that it doesn't sound as dippy as Holy Rome.

for my money, but with no Fin,Phil or Char). A big challenge, indeed.

When I think rabbits, I think growth. Vertical, horizontal, military, economic, etc. I feel that would give us a good theme that will also be a winning strategy. I then started looking at traits that will allow us to "grow" the best. Expansive, Organized, Charismatic, and Creative I think play into this the best, especially Expansive and Organized.

Next I made a list of leaders/civilizations that have these traits.
      Exp/Org - Mehmed/Ottomans
      Exp/Char - Washington/America
      Exp/Cre - Suryavarman/Khmer
      Org/Char - Napoleon/French
      Org/Cre - Zara Yaqob/Ethiopian
      Char/Cre - none

Of these, I like Mehmed, Washington, and Zara the most. Mehmed offers the Hammam, which fits the growth idea well, and the Janissary, which is a decent UU. Washington's UU and UB plays real late in the game, but I do like the health/happy boost to every city, however. Zara has more early game culture output (Cre + Stele) than any other civ in the game, and the Oromo Warrior is no slouch.

If it came down to it, I'd pick Mehmed. His traits and UU fits the growth idea extremely well, is a flexible leader, and he isn't a civ that will paint a target on our heads (i.e. Huayna, Darius, or Julius)

          Stalin.
I don't know why he saved my life. Maybe in those last moments he loved life more than he ever had before. Not just his life - anybody's life, my life. All he'd wanted were the same answers the rest of us want. Where did I come from? Where am I going? How long have I got? All I could do was sit there and watch him die.

So, fellow Rabbits, Terra with two Old landmass (how many baddies
close to us?) and a New World that can be a future powerful USA or
                        just tiny Cuba's...

The best leader to this is....?

Shall we play water, that is Willem or D.João II? Or try two or three
pangeas, one at a time? Then, someone Agressive or Imperialist and
                        Creative or Charismatic?

What is the inspiration of the Man or Lady of the Dice?

                              Stalin.

Seriously though - we probably need to give some consideration to our overall strategy (apart from winning) as per Fed's suggestion.
