      I don't like Terra, as I feel it'll throw a wrench into this type of game. Yet I'm not sure about archy either. I'll wait for some discussion for choosing.

        In my opinion, Terra is the known evil of both maptypes Methos.

        Between the two maptypes, my feeling against Snaky maps is that it forces players to devote resources mostly to a naval setting, something in which the game is lacking.

        In Terra players need a navy to get to the new world and defend/attack coasts, but that's the most of it until the modern era arrives.

          Wtf?? The shortlist poll was between Terra and Inland Sea! Which ended in a 6-5 victory for Terra. Please, let's not have anymore map polls... :desire:

            WTF!!!

            What happened to Inland Sea?

            However.......

            I voted as neither of these options really float my boat - but if I HAD to choose - I would vote for Terra - simply because it does open up so many different gameplay options, including colonies etc.

            It would certainly change the approach of most of the teams - which can only be a good thing.

All he'd wanted were the same answers the rest of us want. Where did I come from? Where am I going? How long have I got? All I could do was sit there and watch him die.

              I really don't know. Never played Terra. I was told that to go to the
              new continent is an invitation to get attacked.

                Fed - play Terra - particularly BtS Terra - which changed considerably from Warlords....

                It is an interesting map type.

                  Mortac created a Complete Guide to Map Creation. Warning: If you have dial up, don't click the link. It is image heavy with multiple images of maps for each setting. Here's a few excerpts for those who don't wish to clink the link:

                  Sealevel: 1) Low 2) Medium 3) High
                  Landmass Type: Snaky Continents
                  World Wrap: Cylindrical
                  • Now for Snaky Continents.
                  • The first map shows a Low Sealevel, the second shows Medium Sealevel and the third map shows High Sealevel.

                  Spoiler:

                  Sealevel: 1) Low 2) Medium 3) High
                  Landmass Type: Snaky Continents
                  World Wrap: Toroidal
                  • A Toroidal World Wrap setting has a bigger impact on a map when larger continents are available compared to small islands. Obviously, this is because small islands will be quite evenly spread across the map no matter the World Wrap setting, whereas continents are able to stretch further from north to south. Therefore, we will only look at Snaky Continents at different Sealevels with a Toroidal World Wrap setting.
                  • The first map shows a Low Sealevel, the second shows Medium Sealevel and the third map shows High Sealevel.

                  Spoiler:

                  [anchor=quicklinks][top][/anchor]

                  [set_anchor=terra]#11 Terra[/set_anchor]

                  Available Settings: Climate, Sealevel, World Wrap, Resources

                  Terra, unsurprisingly, tries to create an Earth-like map. Every time, it will create one large continent (resembling Euro-Asia) and a smaller continent with a thin connection in the middle (resembling America).

                  World Wrap: Cylindrical

                  Spoiler:

                  [anchor=quicklinks][top][/anchor]

                  World Wrap: Toroidal
                  • Toroidal will have no impact on the map layout.

                  Spoiler:

                    This is the result of ALL the team votes, not our team alone.

                    There were 2 teams in favour of Terra, and 2 for Snaky. The rest of the mapvotes got only 1 or 0 votes.

                    So the TEAMS have an even vote, and now we need (again ) choose between 2 maptypes.
