  • Game Set-up Poll 1 :Pitboss Turn Timer

I hope to move things along in the public forum this coming week so we can start team voting on certain game set-up issues over the next few weeks.

With this in mind, what do we, as a team, think about the desired length of time for the Pitboss Turn Timer???

Please vote above, and if you want to post below so everyone can see your reasoning......

    Cheers!!!

    I voted 72 hours.

I'd love to play at 48 hours to be honest, but we are a large team and I'd prefer everyone gets a chance to have some input, rather than the addicted few......

72 hours will also allow people to have their weekends civ free, should they so wish, and will also guarantee at least two turns a week.

As you all may know I have no multiplayer game experience. But based on what I have read and thought about, 72 hours seems like a fair amount of time. As was pointed out in the public forums, pitboss is unforgiving if you miss the timer so too quick could result in teams missing turns and in turn dropping out. Too long and the game gets slow. 72 hour timer allows 7 turns every three weeks or only a little over 4 years if a normal game is played out to turn 500.
Yes, negotiations could take some time.

I went with 48. I really considered 60, but was worried teams would occasionally miss the timer due to forgetting about the odd hour. Most of us will be discussing plans well into the future, so I shouldn't think we'd need the long timer.

I've never played pitboss before btw.

I voted 48 hours as I think 72 hours drags the game out too long.

Nice caveat. I thought you fulla's from CFC knew all about Civ!

In all seriousness though, I am torn on this one - and have not voted yet.

I like the idea of being able to change the timer as we go - as being discussed in the public forum.

I tend to lean towards 72 hours, for the same reasons as Rob.

However - in the early game 48 are more than enough - but as we have experienced in the Warlords game - there will be the team that sets up the auto moves and builds and sods of for 3 days - dragging the clock out to the full time set.

The other problem with going with the "Let's start with a 48 hour timer, and move to a 72 hour timer later" will be the discussions as to when to make that move.

If anyone doubts that - well take a look at the "polite discussion" as to wether we have enough teams in this game.......

I have decided not to vote on this one.

My opinion is skewed by my current workload, and connectivity issues.

So a longer turn timer will suit me - but not necessarily for "game" reasons.

Just voted for the 48 hours option.
Since my weekends usually don't involve being away from home, I don't feel the need for a 3 day delay.
