As for declaring no Tech Brokering, that really seems to be something that would be left up to the individual teams and their diplomatic corps, doesn't it? I mean, if I make a trade with the conditions that you don't re-trade the tech, and then you do, I now know what kind of trading partner you are

Tech trading should be on, it allows more discussion and diplomacy to take place; without tech trading there is very little reason to enter an allaiance; I like war, but it should always be balanced out against the advantages of peace...

Random events shouldn't be used. They can give too much of an advantage and also screw teams over. The map should be balanced. Civs should be pickable so that teams can choose to balance short term advantages against long term strengths. Basically each and every team should have an equal chance to win the game; random events are just that, cmpletely and utterly random and **** up with our balancing of this game.

As to Inland Sea; I think it should be second choice behind Pangaea because it always gives you two targets, anticlockwise and clockwise. You may start in the the centre, but you always have 2 civs that a team can choose to rush. Zargon is wrong that it will create target civs; this game will have a balanced map, ie a mpa balanced by an admin, so that admin can make sure that each team gets food and that the team in the equatorial starts doesn't get unduly ****ed with.

I still endorse Terra map. It gives the benefit of every team starting near the others (same continental part) like Inland Sea and Pangaea do, while still offering a way out for those who feel like scouting the world and going for another victory route.

              Options:
              No tech brokering ON
              Religion choice ON
              Cultural switch after conquest ON
              Random Events ON

Speed: as short as possible please.

I'm also for Terra for reasons myself and others have mentioned earlier. Still rooting for Epic speed too, so armies won't go obsolete by the time they reach the enemy.

As for other features still being discussed, I'd like for choose religions to be ON, Cultural flip after conquest ON, random events ON, No tech brokering.

Small is too small for map size. Standard is fine, even for a small number of teams.

                  Terra map would be good.

When do we start arguing about the turn timer?

Although im not officially signed up to this game as of yet I would like to throw my weight behind Terra map, ive long thought it would make an excellent demo game experience.

One thing though is the map designer should make sure no teams get isolated inland, a Terra map without access to a port or two would be quite frustrating.

The old world continent is effectively a Pangea where all of krills desires can be catered for, all of which are worthwhile points, early diplo war etc make the game fun !!!

Terra though would allow the game to develop in new ways as it progresses, teams in trouble back home might find new pastures abroad, their old foe could be backward enough to force them to stay on the old world long enough for the weaker more advanced team to build a strong base, forcing either a turn around or a white peace, who knows ?

                      Other points id say are
tech trading yes ( got to be able to sell your wares )
tech brokering no ( allows tech disparity to take hold )
random events no ( too unbalanced)
culture flip after conquest no ( only reason i dont like it )
no city razing yes ( if you intend to war then deal with it !)
noble level yes ( no point being any higher without AI )
Raging barbs yes ( just because its fun)

No need to worry over slowness too much with a turn timer enforcing game speed !

Chris - this is an excellent summation of the potential Terra has for a demogame.

                            Excellent points, Chris!

As for turn timer I'd like it to be set at 24 hours.
