    *sigh*

I'm suprised no one has noticed, but the health and happy caps are the same from noble upwards. Only thing that is affected is tech cost and boni against barbs and for huts iirc.

Also, Anyone who wants to play on Epic or Marathon, CiV will be out before the game is finished even if it is in simul turns and 48 hours per turn. Pressing enter for the extra 200 turns is real useful...

You're right, it was different in Warlords.

Another very important difference between difficulties is upkeep.

True, Epic could be a bit much I suppose...

I definitely don't agree with pangea, someone mentioned old world/new world - that would make it interesting.

Monarch or higher I think. I've never played a Demo game but you'd think the more heads you have, the easier it would be. Playing noble at SP should not give you a disadvantage.

I like marathon in SP but I hear what people are saying, maybe it has to be normal... though I'd prefer epic.

Map size should be proportional to the number of teams and random leaders might be a good idea too.

Look, difficulty has no real effect on the game, so it doesn't matter; Noble, Deity, the only real effect will be on the tech pace, which will acentuate those that got good starts. Considering that all starts should be equal but different so that no team gets ****ed at the start of the game I think that it really isn;t worth worying about. That landmass is a different issue; alot of people want few teams. OK. We have 4-5 teams. If we have 1 continent then we can get diplomacy going between all of the teams and whatnot. If we have 2 continents then there will be a 2 civ continent, and if you've played a demogame then you'll know what happens when a 2 civ continent comes up. Either they agree to co-operate and they build all game long and then **** up the other continent and generally declare joint victory a la GoW and ND or fight an 1v1 which is bring, or they fight a 1v1 early on for the entire continent which comes down to a 1v1 anyway.

Yeah I see what you're saying, you can't have anyone isolated, but isn't the old world/new world concept that everyone starts on the same landmass with the idea of discovering the new world?

All I want is navies to be a part of it. Well, not all but you know..

Random leaders is unfair again because one civ might get Zulu and copper in their cap, and their nearest neight gets, say Roosevelt. Roosevelt gets screwed by the RNG, which isn;t enjoyable. We're here to have fun, so let people pick their civs. Map size should be proportional to civs, and I don't think anyone will disagree with you.

The problem for the old/new world is that while you may get to colonize the new world you also have a problem that the new world is never going to be able to compete with the old world (remember that while one team tries to expand to the new world there will be a civ on the old world that is powering up and then just takes the old world empire of the civ that tried to expand). The New world cities will never be able to compete with the old world cities. There is no reason to expand because you will just die if you do.

That's a good point, but if it is a custom map then - as mentioned earlier - certain latter day resources could be found on the continent given everyone the motivation to check it out. Not saying that all the resources are out there.

Anyway, as I said, I just want to see boats because in my opinion you're only getting half the game otherwise. So if there are other ways to do this and get the early diplo going then I'm in favour.

You'll see boats on a pangaea. Nothing like the threat of getting 15 cav dumped into your undefending coastal cities from the fog of war to make people keep some units in their back cities, or from scouting out the ocean...

And a huge resounding to keeping some resources on another continent. Go look up the history of GS to see what happens when you have no resources on your entire continent. Been there, done that bought the pumpkin farm.

Why not Inland Sea? Everyone is on the same landmass and a navy is still a strong part of the game. You'll typically have one neighbor on either side and access to everyone else across the sea.

If difficulty has no effect on the game, why not play at settler level? ,
