Advanced League Game 23 has closed for submissions. Please feel free to discuss your game in as much detail as you want. The more we talk, the more we can learn from each others successes and failures......

Just the one finisher this time round. Congratulations to fed1943 for an early conquest victory. Shame there were no others to challenge him.....

A short story, indeed.

Started game,settled on place. While doing the usual circular scouting,
I saw no one; and the map was big with raging barbs.
So, I made a decision: to give up the 25% bonus and build the GW.
A wise decision, as in the last turns of its build, I was attacked by 2
barbs and 3+ closing.
Then, 2+ cities were founded, close in acceptable places (and my
next to be garrisons were attacked).
Heading towards currency and code of laws to balance the budget.
Barbs all round of my land in amazing quantities.
Some scouting with axes, some fights with barbs,but not looking
for them.
A 3rd,then a 4th, city; always close, but never overlap.
Never attacked a barb city far from my territory.
Just barbs and me.
Then, I saw a green tile,but it was gone. Not far again the green:
Montezuma in Tenochtitlan.
Some barbs around it. I declared war and came to it,trying not fight
the barbs. Just 3 defenders,2 of them wounded.
I conquered the city and keep it because it was better than mine.
I think I should have razed, the connection would be impossible.
But the game ended.
(I must concede the true winners were the barbs).

When I was testing this game - I too tried it with the GW - and the barb activity was amazing.

Mind you - I never got far on the advanced save.....
