    Novice Game 16 Discussion Thread

    Novice League Game 16 has closed for submissions. Please feel free to discuss your game in as much detail as you want. The more we talk, the more we can learn from each others successes and failures......

    Newcomer Moggy1234 swooped into first place. Despite lots of starters, he was the only person to submit a final save!!!!

    Wow! I'd totally forgotten about this game. I've been diving in the Caribbean for the last two weeks and that tends to make you forget things...

    If I remember correctly, I was first shooting for a UN victory. I didn't feel like going religious, and by being focused on population and the UN tech, I figured I could get there first. Then somebody built the Apolistic palace with a religion I had only in my smallest city.

    Oops.

    I changed tracks, changed religions and gunned hard. Eventually I owned the palace, but no victory vote came up. Not wanting to wait, any longer, I finally built the UN (I'd had the tech for a while) and continued growing. Anybody who attacked me (Shaka springs to mind) soon became my vassal. In the end it was me and one other Civ, both at war. He was no match for my overwhelming air superiority, and I was able to beat him back until I had the chance to vote myself the winner.

        OK, I went back and checked my save game. My diplomatic victory was for Game 15.

        In this game I was driven into the western ocean by Kublai in 1745AD.

        A really tough game. Once I realized I was at the north end of a pretty small continent, bordering the toughest nation on that continent, I knew that war was inevitable.

        So I geared up, got a technical and numerical advantage and attacked Kublai....

        ....

        ....and was crushed. :-(
