Bhruics patch is not possible at this stage - as everyone would need to have it installed - including Rob and myself - otherwise we would get the "locked assets" problem again.

As for random events - I am still investigating as to wether this would be possible from a comparative plat point of view. The issue lies in that different events generating during the game will give people different results.

However we will, in the future be running polls on settings for games - and we can look at including this as an option.
I don't know why he saved my life. Maybe in those last moments he loved life more than he ever had before. Not just his life - anybody's life, my life. All he'd wanted were the same answers the rest of us want. Where did I come from? Where am I going? How long have I got? All I could do was sit there and watch him die.

I finished the game and I didn't have any problems with the patch. Some trading proposals were outrageous, but I think I read somewhere else, that it was because the AI could not benefit from the trade. I actually thought trades were quite fair, otherwise. I agree that I would like to see random events turned on for the next game, for precisely the reason you stated. I also think that since everyone is playing the same game, that everyone will have an equal chance at each event.

I am still trying to confirm that the events are generated at the game creation stage - not generated randomly through the game. If the latter applies then it puts a different light on things.......

I am close to finishing my first game since the patch - and I have yet too see any major difference in trading - mind you that may be because of the level I am playing on.........

Not at game creation stage but during the game.
as with all random facts during the game. Do you win or lose a battle, does or does a civ not declare war upon someone.

There are billions of random events in the game, with or without the 'random events' turned on.

I am close to finishing my first game since the patch - and I have yet too see any major difference in trading

There is a difference in resource trading.
It's better, I think. You can negotiate resources an AI already has. It'll mostly not give you more then 3gpt.
If you were the one who already did trade that resource to the AI, you'll find the AI cancel that first trade, and keep the 3gpt trade. That's quite clever.

At first it sounds like resource trading goes wrong, but the AI is just constantly looking for a better trade.

And it'll hardly pay for something it doesn't need. That's good as well.

This was fun Did they change the aggressive AI setting? The AI simply rolled over me in the early game. And it was my friends with the same religion that declared Learned the hard way not to neglect military on ANY flank. I restarted the game and I'm having fun playing it now, with the AI's declaring on me and on each other all the time, but I wont submit since I messed up the first time, damn I miss the random events and I agree that there is so many random effects already so there will always be imbalance. Huts with tech can make a huge difference in the early game and will probably have a greater impact on balance than events.

Your thoughts have been noted, Nugog and I are discussing this topic in the near future........

Thanks for the feedback, and please keep the non game related comments coming.

                    Started and got finished.
I was doing pretty good, but nobody can stand the invasion of 5 civs at once with 3 civs among them who used a gigantic army.

                    I could've faced 2 or 3, but 5 was just too much.
                    Good luck to the rest.

I'd have to say that a random event can't be as disballancing as the random 'event' in which the entire world declares war upon you

Strollen finished and my fate was the same as Cybershy.

I defeated one SOD but that weaken my army enough that two more DOW me and then two more a few turns latter.

My hats off do any victors.

Regarding random events, I end up popping a very advance tech early (horseback riding) which helped immensely in early tech trading. This was like a one in 100 game event.

Question would you like us to submit our defeats? I didn't play it out to the bitter end, but with 4 opponents who refuse to talk...
