  • Do you tolerate AI places a city in your continent?

I personally prefer to possess an own continent ( standard/large map ) without any instrusion, but as you certanly know AI often put insignificant new cities just in the middle of the only clear space in your territoty.

Well,it's my life mission to " color " my continent with my own color,I hate to spot a strange color inside my land, don't you?

I tolerate them a while and use them as place holders until I finished to settle down myself. Then I take them. I also love a unique color on my continent.

It depends, buy yes I do not care for them coming in and I do not want to wait on a flip. I some times will kill them others time wait. Am I in a postion to fight or not? I mostly prevent this by not giving out my map and getting a culture border up and not letting them cross it. If they see you as strong they will avoid crossing your border with wandering scout/warriors. If they know land is open they will send in settlers with escorts.

I let them be until I am ready to make a stab at "their" continent. On anything other than pangea maps (where this odd little rule is irrelevant) you need a common continent to trade workers. Depending how my economy\population control is going I often find it useful to be able to sell workers for up to 30gp. It's a good enough deal that I'll tolerate that city. But I look at it with burning eyes each and every turn.

I don;t mind early, as they will often act as guides to future strategic resources.

          ACKKK!!!!!! WHAT AM I SAYING??!!

          Crush! Destroy!

          My continent! MIIIIIIIIIIIIIIINE!
The greatest delight for man is to inflict defeat on his enemies, to drive them before him, to see those dear to them with their faces bathed in tears, to bestride their horses, to crush in his arms their daughters and wives.

Personally I don't mind when other civs place cities on my continent.

It is basically free cities for me, and it will make the AI concentrate on building military during the war, while you don't really need that many troops to defend your continent, usually you can manage with what you already have, troopswise

Additionally, if there are two from a given civ, you can probably declare war, capture the "local" foreign towns, and sue for peace without ever having to build an amphipious assault group.

With the added benefit of kicking them off "your" continent.

Of course, I usually play builder (warmonger more as I go up in difficulty) so I'm normally pretty assured of a culture flip, so they are, indeed, free cities.
