      638 points.

You start with some good land, however you find yourself isolated on a medium sized island. I set science at 100% and b-lined for mapmaking. By the time I made contact everyone else was in the middle ages.

At this point I built a lot of swordsmen and went to war. They fizzled out in an uphill battle and I lost interest in the game.

I should have gone defensive and started buying tech. It would have taken a long time to get caught up.

There are only a handful of player who could win from this start, and I'm not one of them.

I've never played a Diety game before, so I decided to try this one for kicks

I got a pretty good start, founding my 6th city in 1425BC. I made one big mistake, though... I was going straight for Literature and had Beijing working on The Pyramids to save up shields, but France built the Pyramids in 1450BC, and I couldn't switch to Palace since it was my capital. 131 shields wasted!

I pumped up Beijing to size 12, though. I was producing 20 shields/turn, and I managed to complete The Great Library in 600BC. I'm hoping that'll help out. I don't have time to play anymore for a few days, though.
To secure peace is to prepare for war.

              no thanks
              6 civs on a 70% ocean,medium map...no...thtas not the kind of challenge i like.

i try aesons start and im having pretty much fun with it.
since it is that damn slow i started a compareable game on a medium map which is doing very fine.
