Definitely get the Hoover Dam. With your production, it should be easy to complete. Someone else has Hoover Dam? Then still wait for Hydro (assuming you have a river, of course).

There is a river, but I built Hoover Dam in another city. Paris, (completely railroaded, size 15 and growing) is now up to 172 shields per turn. Manufacturing plant is still a ways off, tho. O well, nothing costs more than 90 shields anyway (it isn't a coastal city) right now. Too bad, one turn ships would be quite a rush.

I need to build a few settlers in a neighboring city to free up the tiles for Parisian workers. They are grassland, but might bump production up a bit more...

Forget building settlers - change the other city's laborers to specialists. If you're already at 172 shields, a nuclear plant and a manufacturing plant will push it up over 225 -- you might have a city that produces a stealth bomber (240 shields) in 1 turn -- truly a behemouth of a production center.

(Of course, don't risk your game for a great production center -- but if the game is in hand, I'd love to see a monster city -- I think 've had a 200+ shield city 3 or 4 times, but not much more.)

I'll probably focus it on maxing shields, as the game is mine to lose. It's 1000ad, I lead in score by something like 900 points; I have a 1-4 tech lead over all AIs; I'm bleeding the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th place civs for about 400g/turn, and control vast resources. I still have much conquering to do, but am only taking on one or two weenie civs at a time. This will probably be my last game on regent.

I have had the habit of playing until around this point in tech, then restarting. Recently a friend challenged me to actually finish a game, and this one is the result. I'll post a screenshot of the city eventually, considering I've devoted a thread to it.

              Ironworks completed in 740ad

The caveat is: The game is on regent, huge map, 16 civs, standard tech values

              Here's a screenshot of 1010ad

What are you doing with so much gold?

This is from a game I finished today. Its late modern age so not as impresive as Marquis de Sodaq because I have every improvement to help production. But still is the best I've ever had.

                      Thanks!

The gold is for my colonies. I have about 20 cities in the 95% corruption zone. I've been sailing about, and plopping down settlers whenever I find a valuable resource or luxury. Instead of waiting 60 turns for something to get completed, every 5 turns or so I rushbuy everything being built there. It knocks the coffers down by several thousands each time. Spy activity can cost a bit, too, so I save up for that.

delsolsi, I hope to achieve that level of production as soon as the manufacturing plant is available... It's too cool to pump that many shields each turn.

OMG!! 200+ shields! this is madness.

I've never ever gotten the right conditions to build iron works....I really want to now!! Hopefully in my next game, fingers crossed!

This is my first IW. I will undoubtedly build it every time I get the chance now!

Playing my first game of v1.29f, and I had iron deplete from an IW-potential city - I lost the ability to build the IW! Don't know if it is the fact that the iron depleted, a change to v1.29f or something else weird.

BTW - in the same game I also had an amazing RNG string - significantly rarer (unless I did the math wrong) than the Tank-Busting Spearman! Check out the Minitourney III spoliers thread.

List of results from a Random Number Generator. More properly a pseudo-random number generator, as modern deterministic computers algorithms are incapable of producing truly random numbers. However, a decent computer-RNG is virtually indistinguishable from truly random numbers. In the future, your computer may be equipped with a quantum-RNG to produce truly random numbers for encryption.
