I'm guessing until late summer-August maybe.
I don't doubt it can be broken. Just takes the right playstyle on the right map. On a 256x256 map it would be simple (though time consuming) to triple the score at least. Summer would be a good bet as a lot of people will have extra spare time to play this type of massive game.

It's tedious, but with the scoring in civ3 it is clear there should be a record for each map size.

I will have to try that scout tactic in my next game.
Asleep, where's the text in your sig from?

I agree with Dr. Spike's comment about how each map size should have its own record / hall of fame. the evidence I have seen overwhelmingly supports this idea. Even Aeson seems to agree with it. Is there a way that such a proposal could be made to those who run the hall of dame at civfantics? I'm talking beyond email here-a formal petition or something.

I've always thought that map size should factor into score. Possibly even the land mass setting too (there's a lot more land available on a large/large than on a large/normal). Then again, posting here doesn't really help, does it? I'll have to mosy over to CivFanatics and throw in my 2 cents.
