  • Search for the missing Lincoln

I have a very funny problem.

I captured the Americans' last city, but it turns out that they had a Settler unit on a Galleon somewhere, and I think it was pretty distant.

So, somewhere in my Huge map, there's still an American Settler, Musketman, Ironclad and Galleon there, only I have no clue where.

The funny thing is that Lincoln can still vote against me in the UN!

Any easy way to track him down short of sending (slow) naval units to comb every inch?

I traded World Maps with every other Civ to try it and I don't see him. He also hasn't founded a new city because I can't trade with him, I think.

Can you try to steal troop plans?

I had this exact same problem with a game of mine. Hammurabi in a boat somewhere.

      DO NOT SINK HIS SHIP!

I found him and sunk it, then every save game after that was corrupted, and unable to load.

I even tried giving him a city, then sinking the ship, then taking over the city again. Still corrupted.

I reported this bug, but it looks like it wasn't fixed.

Just let him sit there, no one will bother him, and your game won't be screwed.

It sucks that that he can still keep you from Diplomatic Victory, hopefully they will fix this bug soon...

Killing the last settler shouldn't corrupt the game; I've done it many times. Planting a spy once you're late in the game and stealing his troop plans may work as well. Or, you can do it the easy way and get all the computers to declare war on him.
Why capture when you can raze? :D

I don't think I can steal his troop plans because I no longer have a capital to replant a mole in!

Well, I haven't really checked whether or not having a capital matters or not when planting a spy, but it might work.

I planted a spy, then captured all his cities. He had one Settler unit left.

Now, spy options for Americans don't work.

I had the same thing happen with the Germans, although I didn't realize that it was because of a lone settler. The thing that bugged me was the Germans refused to talk to me and I couldn't destroy them, so I stayed in war status with war weariness creating massive problems.

The funny thing is that because I planted a spy, I could still see his army list.

Fortunately for me, we were on talking terms though I conquered his entire empire in 3 turns. Being the only guy with tanks helped...
