  • Strange AI behavior

I'm currently playing a large map owith 16 civs.

I have observed that on several occasions AI civs join MPP, and alliances and start intercontinental wars even as they are being beaten at home. France was losing a war with England, but managed to declare war on half the civs and ended up being destroyed by the Japanese.

I'm a superpower and I am currently in the process of eating up tiny Rome to control the entire fur trade. >: )
Somehow, Rome gets Zululand, which has one city left, to sign an MPP with them which automatically puts Zuliland at war with me.

I don't get it. Are the computer players so desperate for vicotory that they drag anyone who is willing into wars? And why would any AI player who is losing a war be willing to pick more fights? And in Zululand's case,a civ with 1 city left.

    Any insights?

In general, the AI stands a better chance when he teams up on you. In Rome's case, he probably could only afford to sign an MPP with the Zulus.

Once you're the superpower, you should know the AI has no chance anymore.
