Pyramids. With only 4 cities you need to do some serious expanding.

          Pyramids sound very nice.

          Or rush a warrior .

We want a warrior, we want a warrior, we want a warrior

It depends on your style of play. Both wonders are good but if you are a warmongerer you should build an army. Win a battle with it and build HE.

Hmm... playing as the Celts... on emperor... you need cash for a massive warrior -> GS upgrade.

Therefore, I say GL. Shut science off entirely, horde cash, and then open up the proverbial can of whoopass.

Well, I think it depends how close is your first neighbor. If you have a lot of room, I think you should build the Pyramids. If not, then go as Arrian suggested and build the GL to save a lot of cash.

Hmmm, it really depends upon the situation. If I'm on a huge continent, one of the near AIs will probably build the pyramids which allows you to take it later, same for the GL.

Being militaristic, an army and HE can do wonders for later GL creation and more wonders, FP, palace move, ahhh, if only we could all be so lucky.

Sounds like the game is already in the bag.

Congrats... I went through a COMPLETELY obsessive period re early GLs... they are awesome!

Some questions, though, in deciding what to do:

How much more fighting do you have to do in the near future? What is your current offensive unit? How many elites do you have? What are the AI civs' defending units?

Are there other AI civs in the medium distance that could use some trimming? Now, as in ASAP? Or how about 1000 years down the road?

Are your towns, both those already built and those in the near future, on rivers? Do you have many high food tiles?

Depending on all of that, you can make the best decision.

well I went ahead and took the pyramids. I am at 50 AD and own about 2/3rds of the continent.

I'll keep you all posted. I trimmed the germans down to one city and only the vikings are left.

I only had them on my continent. The english are on another continent and got the Great Library sometime ago.

I have just finished all my ancient age research.

Getting Pyramids was definitely the best option for an early GL. I'm gonna do some experimenting on early-early-early warfare these days...

I build pyramids with my first GL. Army is #2. These priorities are not carved in rock though. I change them if I have to. Many times I even build the pyramid without a leader and save him for an army. Or another wonder.

Okay, here's what I think. Maybe you should have saved it for a Forbidden Palace rush, or perhaps another wonder, like Hanging Gardens, Oracle or Sun Tzu's. The happiness and military power would be good, but you would have to wait a while .

Of course, I'm fairly new to the game (it's only been a month or two since I finally moved from Civ II, CtP—not a very good game—and Alpha Centauri). Bear in mind that my advice might be worth zilch.

Then again, it's probably too late for this advice anyway, isn't it?
