  • Where do I go from here?

I am in a game with 5 other civs. I am China and am dominant on my continent. Rome and Egypt have a couple tundra-based towns but that's all.

Other civs: Egypt, Rome, Greece, Persia, India

I subdued India early on to gain control of the continent. He has cities on another smallish continent.

Egypt has been ahead of me on the score card by 100 or fewer points for a long time. Her military is as strong or stronger than mine. The others are weaker than mine.

Even if we go along peacefully as we have for many years, I'm not sure I can (or even how) catch Egypt. Egypt is on a single continent with Rome, Greece, and Persia.

My inclination is to head over there and start taking over the weakest of these.

    Any thoughts?

BTW, how do you instigate war without hurting your rep with all the others?

You are more likely to get a helpful response if you attach your save game to your post. It's easier for us to see what's going on if we can load up the game ourselves.

About declaring war with hurting rep: If you get the other Civ to declare war on you - by demanding that they remove their units from your territory for instance - then you don't lose reputation. This isn't always that easy, though. Another way is to declare war on your enemy BEFORE you attack and before you enter their borders. This might not hurt your rep at all, I can't remember, but it is certainly less damaging.
If I'm posting here then Counterglow must be down.

      A save would be nice.

For war without hurting reputation, cancel all agreements with the AI(ROP,MPP) and then if you choose 'Prepare for WAR!' option it wont damage you.

Make sure you're peace treaty does not have turns to go, also.

        We need more info:

        what age?

forget score, what is the difference in power?

You need to figure out a foothold on the other continent. Pick on a weak civ and plant 2-3 cities as your base on the other continent.

If Egypt is ahead in score, should be easy to get MPP with other civs vs Egypt. After you have your foot hold on the other continent, try to provoke Egypt into war. If they won't,
let your military go "weak" and get them furious.

If nothing, start pillaging roads in their area. They will declare war, or you it really doesn't seem to matter too much. Once Egypt starts attacking your MPP will kick in and it will be the world vs Egypt. Then just keep on the pressure.

If you can't give us a save, do a print screen, save the file in paint as a gif, and
post the mini map on the forum.

Egypt is a pain in the ass.

I would take my chances, build up a military and then head over there to take down Egypt. I wouldn't waste my time with the others and just try to hit Egypt as hard as possible. I will assume that you are playing on Regent or below. In my experience the AI takes forever to retaliate on the lower levels. If the game in nearing 2050 then you MUST try your best to take out Egypt. However before I will stick to any of these suggestions I will need to see save.
