  • My top ten wins... what does yours look like?

Having probably played 50 some games to this point, my top ten list is starting to look quite interesting. Thought I would post it, and some comments and encougage you to do the same, should make for some interesting discussion...

    1) Babylonians - Military
    2) Egyptians - Space Race
    3) Greeks - Space Race
    4) Babylonians - Domination
    5) Chinese - Military
    6) Persians - Space Race
    7) Babylonians - Space Race
    8) Persians - Space Race
    9) Babylonians - Cultural
    10) Chinese - Space Race

One of each victory, excepting Diplomatic... I do leave it on, but the score usually isn't high enough to warrant a top score. Think I won twice Diplomaticly, both times as the Germans as I was about to miss the Space Race.

Obviously it would seem my civ I do the best with are the Babylonians... interestingly enough they aren't my favorite Civ (the Greeks are).

Giving each Civ trait a point per appearance in my list pretty well sums up my conclusions on the strength of that trait.

    Scientific - 7 times
    Religious - 5 times
    Industrious - 5 times
    Militaristic - twice
    Commercial - Once

    Interesting.

    1) Egyptions - Culture
    2) Persians - Space Race
    3) English - Space Race
    4) Iroquois - Space Race
    5) Bablyonians - Space Race
    6) Aztec - Retired
    7) Aztec - Military
    8) Iroquois - Rank
    9) Iroquois - Rank
    10) German - Military

I never have diplomatic victory turned on.
These results, apart from the religious being on top, are very strange indeed:

    Religious - 7 times
    Expansionistic - 4 times
    Scientific - 3 times
    Militaristic - 3 times
    Industrius - 2 times
    Commercial - 1 time
I'm building a wagon! On some other part of the internets, obviously (but not that other site).

I really don't know how you managed to play so many games in a few months.

From the few I have finished best was surprisingly ... the english starting on an small island. but the expansionist trait (huge map, pelago, regent) was very useful, because I built the Lighthouse and plundered all those little virgin islands.
Babylon was ok for me, too, the sci/rel combo gives you an enormous advantage.

I can't come up with the exact ranking off the top of my head but it would look something like this:

        1) Egyptians - SS
        2) Babs - Domination
        3) Babs - SS
        4) Egyptians - SS
        5) Persians - SS
        6) Babs - SS
        7) Babs - Domination
        8) Iroquois - SS
        9) Babs - SS
        10) Babs - Cultural

Like I said, it's an approximation.

However, it's not really fair to use this as a basis to rate the traits, since I've played a lot more with the Babs and Egypt than the other civs. There are several civs I've yet to play.

As for the victory conditions... I leave them all enabled, but I don't even try for a U.N. win. I rarely have the patience for a domination win, but sometimes I'll go do it. Cultural only really occurred on the lower levels, when tech progress is slower (due to the AI not getting advantages early), so it has more time to accumulate.

          For me it's something like

          Iriquois - Military
          Iriquois - Military
          Persian - Military
          Iriquois - Military
          Persian - Military
          Aztec - Military
          Babylonian - Space Ship
          Babylonian - Domination
          Roman - Space Ship
          Greek - Space Ship

However, I have only finished about 15 games so I don't think counting up the traits would be that useful.
