Maybe I'm high or something, but in reading this forum, it seems that people tend to say things like "spearmen DESTROY horsemen" when the two units have comparable strengths in combat.
Does this mean that there are some matchups (i.e.- civ2 pikemen got 2x defense against mounted units) that I'm not aware of?
Or is this just a pleasant dream? This would be possibly the coolest feature of the next Civ game... multipliers for specific units who would naturally have an advantage over others.
For example, swordsmen have better attack value than bowmen. HOWEVER, against a rifleman unit, it is highly probable that in the real world none of the swordsmen would actually reach the guys with guns, but a bowman would at least have a chance at a lucky shot finding its mark.
Does this kind of feature exist in CivIII?
