  • Something fun to do with your armies

    1: make army
2: fill with your best defense unit
3: park on enemy civ's supply of vital resources

Works best, obviously, with battlefield meds and pentagon, but can still really really bugger up your opponent. Especially if you can outlast the advanced units he's already got. Did this to China in my last game; the tanks stopped rolling, and were replaced with horse riders. Nice. :-)

Or you can destroy roads on resource tiles, by bombming with planes.

Then curse as your bombers can't QUITE MANAGE TO KILL those pesky workers.

        How does that use armies??

Well, heres another idea for armies. Make an army with Mech Inf. Then send it into an enemy territory, move, pillage. Next turn, move, pillage. This will drive them insane, to have an unstoppable pillaging army going through their territory, undoing all their nice improvements
I'm building a wagon! On some other part of the internets, obviously (but not that other site).

You cannot pillage with an army. (Stupid, eh?)

Damn, then thats even one less reason to make armies

But that wont stop my idea
Build an army of any defensive unit, the best you have, and then send it into enemy territory with any 2 movement unit. This doesnt even have to be the best you have. Now, the army defends the 2mp unit, while it does the pillaging. It can move, pillage, while the army just moves 1 square to defend the pillager...

Skanky's strategy works - army defending a fast pillaging unit. It can be slow going over rough terrain, of course; the advantage there is that your defense is higher in that case. I was doing an improved variation over this: an infantry unit or army escorting three cavalry units. Cavs have a move rate of 3, which mean in many places they could move out, pillage, then join back up with the advancing infantry. Which meant a nice 3-square-wide path of pillage wherever I go.

                gamma, i like that idea.
Must try that in a game where i actually have access to saltpeter
In current game, I had to go straight for tanks.
