  • Question: Invisible Protestors

    Just a quickie here.

I was waging war against the Aztecs last night to free the flanks of my Civ from the remnants of the Aztec civilization. 2 turns into my campaign, some of my cities started to experieince "civil disorders"

When I went in to check on the situation and to see if i can make some entertainers to calm the anti-war hippies, I found that I had all content citizens in my cities and no unhappy citizens. A turn later, without doing anything, the cities went back to normal.

My question is, what in Abe Lincoln's name is happening? Civil disorder occurs even without unhappy citizens?

oh, and I was playing a Republic.

    Any insight?

Perhaps a luxury trade you made a while back has finally run out? Or you just made a particular trade like this? Just a guess.

This has also happened to me. It seems to me that it's linked somehow to warring (even if you had already been in a state of war). Seems to happen more to me with losses rather than victories. Maybe someone else can provide some insight to this.

I may have the answer. I have the AI managing the moods of my citizens in almost all of my cities.

The AI may have already made the adjustments immediately after the civil disorder started, so that when I went in to check, it has already been adjusted...

The turn after I suffered my biggest military disaster in all of my Civ3 games (I lost 2 infantry and a HORDE of artillery they were guarding) 5 of my cities went into disorder the next turn. I don't know if that was just a collosal coincidence or really good coding. Could have been either, I get too wrapped up in war-making and sometimes fail to notice pop growth... but 5 at once was odd.
