  • How to use a leader

    Hey guys,

I have been trying to build an army three times now but nothing happened. I put my leader in a city with 3 units and click Build Army, when I wanna use the units it still says 0-0-1 for the Leader and the other units don't seem to be in the army at all..

I tried this three times and none of the times an actual army was formed...

Can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong ??

    Thanks !!!

First, put ALL the units you want to join the army in the same city as the leader. Then select 'Build Army' for the leader. Then, select each unit in turn and select 'Join Army' for each unit.

I have found that Armies are quite powerful in this game. I had as many as four in the field early in one game. However, if you can build that many armies, you're in trouble, becaue it means your fighting several Civilizations at once, and you just can't win the war of attrition, because the AI is stacked against you.

      Thanks for the reply mate,

I will try this tonight.....I have to admit though that I never saw the "Join army" option sofar...I will let you know...

p.s. Can you mess up and form an army without having any units in it which totally makes the leader obsolete ??

        Leaders

No, Leaders are always made without any units. Think of them more as a transport ship rather than a single unit. You use the (L) command to load them into the leader and make the army that way. Just remember, what you load in can not be unloaded. Once the army is full it cant be upgraded. However, save them as once you build the pentagon you can add one more unit of a better grade to improve the whole stack.
