Communism

So, whats your thoughts on communism? I tried it once, and when my income shot way down, I changed it asap. I like to make war so, could you give me the whats-what of communism?

If you were in a Republic or Democracy before making the switch to Communism I'm not surprised and a drastic reduction in income.

In all the games I've played I've switched from Monarchy to Communism and have noticed a slight increase in income. For example I recall a game where I was making about 23 gold every turn (5.5.0)in monarchy and when I switched to Communism my income did increase to about 27 gold every turn.

One thing I like about Communism is the fact that 4 soldiers can be used to quell your population. This saves on having to build either Cathedrals or Coloseums in most of your cities.

actually in a recent game my switch from democracy to communism increased my income. must have something to do with all those military units I had to pay for...

It isn't your income that's increasing, it's your expenses decreasing. The effect is the same, but the reason is different.
