  • A quick question on the cost of tech.

    What is the formula to calculate the cost of a tech in gold ?

    I can get the tech values from the editor, but how is it then converted to gold.

    {edit} - So that a fair price can be calculated in PBEMs'

    Tech cost = (1 - 0.5 * k / (n-1)) * c * r / d

    k = known civs that already have the tech
    n = total number of civs left in the game
    c = tech base cost
    r = tech rate for the map
    d = difficulty factor

    Example:
    Monotheism at Monarch,
    Small map,
    known by 2 civs out of 6:
    Cost = (1-0.5*2/5)*36*200/9 = 640

      This info should be on the F1 screen IMO.
      In example one should see:

      " 230*/640** 5 turns to go "

      * = research done over the last couple of turns
      ** = total needed (currently)

          Just quickly - the map and tech base costs can be found under the appropriate tabs in the editor when you are editing the rules for the .bix file.
