  • Building city on 'shielded' grassland

    Hello!

As we are starting up a new Demo game here on Apolyton we are discussing whether we should move our settler one tile west to get more workable land. However we are now on a grassland and the tile west of us is shielded grassland (giving 1 shield unimproved).

    See thread here.

Now I remember that there has been a thread that had all the pros and cons of building a city on a bonus grassland. I just cannot find it as they have closed the search.

Anyone remember the effects of building on a shielded grassland? I think it was something like you get the extra shield in the city square after certain conditions were met.

You get the extra shield when the city reaches size 7.

Also, IIRC, you have to be out of despotism.

Well, that's the case only to get three shields instead of two from a bonus grassland Metropolis. But if you have a hospital and are still in Despotism, you have bigger worries than the single shield lost from a center tile!
