It's from a poorly translated (from Japanese) Sega game called Zero Wing.

It has a vid of the intro with the now-infamous AYBABTU.

I figured I'd answer since I put some referances in my story. Although, I'm behind the times (though not as much as you ) , All Your Base... was the "in" thing a while ago.
