okay- well here's another idea:
---
If we could get a onetime announcement on the front page- I would suggest that 5-10 of the biggest authors on the forum compile lists of their 5-10 favorite tales ever on apolyton (not written by themselves) and also list their favorite one that they have written.
It could be Behind the Scenes With the Authors
They could write a little summary of why they liked X tale and what the best parts about it are and how they themselves wrote Y tale and what they were thinking about.-->Visit CGN!

Kinda like Faces of Apolyton only with the authors? It would work. Only: I wouldn't say: 5-10 biggest authors. I'd say: whoever wants to do it - can - I am not sure we'd get more than 10 people that way any way. But nice idea though, I'd do it.
Granted, it'd probably give the forum only a rather short-term boost in popularity. It's not a lasting thing, I'm afraid.

unless we made it a series... and had one big announcement and then a list of who would do it what week etc.
I'm down BTWFirst Master, Banan-Abbot of the Nana-stary, and Arch-Nan of the Order of the Sacred Banana.
Marathon, the reason my friends and I have been playing the same hotseat game since 2006...

What I was thinking about was a thread in which the authors post all at once, then we do one huge news announcement about the special.
Which of the two ideas do you like better?
Of course me and Fluffy da Wunder kitty would love to be interviewed and do a story on how we made Apolyton what is is today...-->Visit CGN!

Hmm... wasn't exactly waht I was thinking- but that could work- we could make it a weekly series thing perhaps...
That is as long as Grandpa Troll is included

Fluffy and Grandpa Trollmor maybe just Fluffy alone..hard to chose I must admit..
ha!
But for real..I'll do it but really..mention my name once and I really believe that will suffice..
OK?
Thanks

sorry for not naming you in particular but I could list names for days (I've been here since 2001 and editor since 2002) I had to leave some people off, that's why the etc.'s there.
we'd be GLAD to have your help.-->Visit CGN!

Oh, yeah, name me 6th out of the seven that you named... like I'm not number one....
Kenneth MacAlpine sat uneasily upon his carved oaken throne. His advisors and councilors argued meaninglessly in small groups around the great hall of Edinburgh. He caught snippets of conversations and frowned. While he wrestled with the future of his people, the brightest minds in the land were...
Once upon a time Shaitan did a 'You Decide' civ story to promote his British Isles MOD. It recieved a fair amount of attention and I personally consider it really cool. I've been seriously considering doing my own for a while (I talked to him about it a whila ago, by then the story was well antiquated.)
Is this flashy enough? I might be able to do it after DE (New chapter's been up, but noone seems to care) but that's taking up most of my writing time right now. I've learned my lesson about two at once.Read Blessed be the Peacemakers | Read Political Freedom | Read Pax Germania: A Story of Redemption | Read Unrelated Matters | Read Stains of Blood and Ash | Read Ripper: A Glimpse into the Life of Gen. Jack Sterling | Read Deutschland Erwachte! | Read The Best Friend | Read A Mothers Day Poem | Read Deliver us From Evil | Read The Promised Land

Okay, well, I suppose that the best received and probably the easiest idea to set up would be the interview.
Therefore, are there any volunteers to interview other posters?
And who would you like to see interviewed first?
---
As for questions, I think we could all help out the interviewer by posting ideas for questions in a question thread.
I suggest that we generally keep the interviews brief with the exception of the focus articles: Namely on THEIR stories and their favorite CIV stories.
-
Some questions that must be in there.
1. Your Favorite Civ III-Story Tale YOU have written
2. Your Top 5 Favorite Civ III-Story Tales OTHERS have written
The interviewer will then hyperlink to the top tales and the intervieweree will give reasons why they enjoyed each tale (about a paragraph each)
-
I think that will suffice.
