Ive been having rather a lot of good luck with these little boats, sending many of them on suicide missions , but about 75% of them seem to survive. At least they have been doing so far.

"Let me see it!", yelled Theodora. Her hands trembled as the map was handed to her. Such a huge map of all the Byzantines had seen with their Curraghs. So many other civilizations discovered. Whispers of great cities beyond the seas with Wonders. The Maya, Dutch, and England. Strange names. Our Dromans will rule the seas!

Now just don't go forming any angry mobs now, you hear?

Man, these maps are huge! Huge and sweet. Would like a bit more story to go with 'em though if you have time.

Where O where have I been? The story has been quite stagnant of late. Perhaps I will add some comments as time permits. Time. Certainly fleeting. My empire has me contemplating poetry. Perhaps it is the beer. No matter. I shall quote some poetry I find apt for my current situation from none other than Percy Bysshe Shelley:

I met a traveler from an antique land
Who said: Two vast and trunkless legs of stone
Stand in the desert. Near them, on the sand,
Half sunk, a shattered visage lies, whos frown,
And wrinkled lip, and sneer of cold command,
Tell that its sculptor well those passions read
Which yet survive, stamped on these lifeless things,
                            The hand that mocked them and the heart that fed;

And on the pedestal these words appear:
"My name is Ozymandius, king of kings:
Look on my words, ye Mighty, and despair!"
Nothing beside remains. Round the decay
Of that colossal wreck, boundless and bare
The lone and level sands stretch far away.

                            Byzantine prophesy? Stay tuned...

Thanks for the compliments. I would like to add more to the story but right now it seems an amorphous mass that needs shaping. Maybe tonight I might conquer such a task but somehow I feel I am not up to it. Distractions are certain. If I have the willpower I may overcome them.

                              Let us hope.

Seems like I've found some poetry to soothe my restless soul. That's what I tell myself anyway.

From The Rubiyat of Omar Khayyam
                                Fitzgerald 5th edition:

Come, fill the Cup, and in the fire of Spring
Your Winter garment of Repentance fling:
The Bird of Time has but a little way
To flutter--and the Bird is on the Wing.
