Hey! I play CIV3 all the time! I've been addicted since the original version.

Considering the number of voters in the past contest, it doesn't look like there's any kind of revival.

I would have to agree. Guess we'll have to wait for CivIV.

It's going to be a long wait, considering they just announced it and said it wasn't even in the prototype stage yet...

I don't think a new release would help, I haven't looked around here much since someone whined and got NESs removed.

Yeah, NESes actually keep the CFC stories forum alive, sometimes I think too alive, and without enough actual talent.

Not to say that writers at CFC are generally no talent bozos, but...

Well, though I cannot bring myself to say otherwise I assure you that I don't feel that way.

                  Not all the time.

I mean uknemesis (Cbraud) did post some stories there.

However the stories forum is still alive and well there, I think, it was last time I checked and I blame it on the NES subform.

It's about King Arthur returning from Avalon. I won't give too much away, but he has a little trouble. He gets arrested for not possessing a visa.
That is a shame that you will not be posting your story as you go.

I hope you will place some on here soon.

                      Does seem striking.

Personally I'm working on several Civ related projects in addition to something which I hope will become a novel eventually. I'm also writing Unrelated Matters (There's a chapter almost done on my computer, but it's waiting until I have a free 15 minutes to finish and post it).

                      Good luck with this HG.

I think the NES issue has settled long ago, and it should be allowed to stay that way !!!
A proud member of the "Apolyton Story Writers Guild".There are many great stories at the Civ 3 stories forum, do yourself a favour and visit the forum. Lose yourself in one of many epic tales and be inspired to write yourself, as I was.

Personally I do not espous e the revival of NESes onto the Stories forum, I dropped out of the NES circuit long ago (Though there are some who regularly beseech me to make a comeback tour).

I speak of facts though, or at least what I see as facts. NESes (Which corupt a story forum, and debase its values) take great strides towards perserving that forum.

Ghandi said, "Whatever change you wish to see in the world, make that change." so therefore let us not beseech the heavens for a gift of new posters. No profit can come of this and naught is created but wasted days. Let us then spend these hours writing and encouraging our fellow writers. Complain of inactivity whilst thou thyself does not contribute to the body of the forum? I ask you not to write my freinds, I do not beseech thee to oppose natures gifts, if you were not gifted in literature, but it is our lot to encourage those more blessed. Readers are just as vital as writers, my freinds, but readers who would see a forum without their comments, would see no forum at all.

                            If I may...

First off, oddly enough, I just discovered this forum. You just write stories here about Civ games? Are there any specific rules, or is it just a writing forum?

Secondly, I'll bite and ask what an NES is.

                              A Neverending Story:

Different writers take the places of different nations and write conjoining stories from the perspective of those nations. A sound and fun idea, corrupted by certain players not wanting to 'loose' and therefore often the source of a great deal of 'flaming' and animosity.

I hope the same thing happens with "Conquest" and that it brings in as good a crop of new writers as last time.
I was part of the first wave of new writers when CivIII came out and even though i haven't posted a story in a very long time i still enjoy reading you guys.
Is the release of a new expansion pack etc the only times when there has been a REVIVAL on the story thread?

There is so much talent around, I have been having fun rereading so many stories from the last few years, and finding ones I have never read.

As for comments of not playing Civ... it is a great game
