Good stuff. Maybe I should beat my head against the wall every now and then also to come up with something.

"Sweet mother of God! Are you sure of this?" asked Lieutenant Lawson nervously.
"Positive, sir," replied Sanchez. "They're entering the village from the South right now. I had to bag one of 'em to disengage. As far as I know, first squad is gone."
Lawson's delayed reaction was nonetheless effective, "****. We're screwed. This mission just transcended FUBAR! OK, er, Santiago!" A few bullets chipped away at the stone wall behind them for a moment.
"Oh ****! They're that close already? Right, come on Sanchez, we're going into the square."
Sanchez' mortified expression almost made the lieutenant withdraw that order, the pain and fear and final understanding were now sinking in. They were finished. There would be no rescue now that they were trapped by a company of enemy panzer-grenadiers.
The sun's heat always seemed to get more intense in combat. It was the fear of bullets, the fear of bayonets, driving the sweat out of the body and causing a fever to make the mosquitos envious, and Sanchez and Lawson lay prone in the ditch by the stone wall, in full view of the fiery orb, almost crying with fear and sickness at what they were about to do...
BOOM!
The screams of several wounded Germans suddenly erupted, interpsersed with cries for help, and as Sanchez and Lawson emerged from their dumbfounded, fear-fuelled stupor, McCallister, Quinn and a guy from second squad Sanchez didn't know dived into the ditch.
A moment later dust, sand and debris began falling around them, and McCallister said, simply, "We holding or breaking?" Lawson understood, and replied in kind;
"Holding" His voice had become a faint, rasping whisper. This wasn't like the war movies at all, where you saw all those GI's shouting orders and generally looking brave in the face of enemy aggression. Real shells and real bullets brought all true human beings to a submissive and reverend silence.
McCallister and the other two all seemed to nod inwardly, knowing how a great doom was even now falling upon them.
Taking a proper look over the edge of the ditch, Sanchez saw five Germans dead in the village, and two being dragged away by their comrades, all the time covered by an MG-42 on a rooftop at the Southern end of the village.
No longer heeding the danger to themselves, the remnants of Cerberus Squad arose, and began to advance into the village...

I'm afraid it'll be quite a while before my next posts, I think there'll be three more, but the next one needs lots of work and I've just started my third year at College, so this story has taken something of a backseat, thought I just started Creative Writing, which should help my writing skills mature a little
