I spoke to an EB shop assistant who confirmed that they had it in stock but was quite insistant that he would not sell it to me until Friday

....I tried gentle persuasion, hard persuasion, shouting, pleading, begging, Bribery, Favours, Sexual favours, all my money, my clothes, my house, my wife, the blood of my first born.....

....they had to escort me off the premises and surgically remove my hands from around the shop assistants neck.

Guess I'll have to wait until Friday...

Of course, I wouldn't like to be a tw@t, and say that I'm not waiting, 'cos I got the LE thru the post last week, ordered from gamestop.com in the US.

Oh, I just did. Sorry folks!

            You won't think that when I spent a collective total of £60 (game+p&p+customs) .

A f*ck it. It was worth it to have a biscuit tin!

You won't be disappointed, btw. It's a great game!

              he he ...

Over the last 4 weeks I have actually been following a policy of ignoring my PC at home - it is a subtle plan to reduce the impact of 'wife discontent', .....
.....when a home moves, from a period of being at peace, to a long phase of being at CIV III.

                Ah sod it...

Well Electronics Boutique in central Bristol had lots of copies of Civ3 on the shelves today (14th) - you could pick them up and shake them - the manual feels reassuringly heavy but you still can't buy them

But its definitely time to start preparing wife and kids for seeing less of me

To make it doubly cruel - on Friday I'll be stuck in the wilds of Wales (Swansea ) with no access to a gaming shop
Hoping that 4 is closer to 2 than 3

I have exactly the same predicament

But to my shock and delight 'her indoors' has just offered to buy the game for me on Friday !!
Plus she's going out on Friday night

What the hell is this about having the games on the shelves but not allowing customers to buy them?

If the shops have had the game for days, why the mother-loving delay in getting the game out?!

Is this like when you're young, and mother tells you you can't open your presents until Christmas day...but you can have a feel under the tree, as it were

I spoke to EB in Oxford St and the guy told me that if they sell it before Friday they could be fined £6000 so it's not worth it to them.
He did say that sometimes if enough people demand it, their head office might release the game early.
I suggest that everyone call EB and beg.

.... is that the one on the top floor of Debenhams or the one between Oxford Circus and Tottenham Court Road?

If it is the one in Debenhams --- I'll see you there on Friday!

..'my better half' bowed to intelligent argument and superior logic (read: mad staring eyes and lots of arm waving) and realised that withdrawal was the better part of valour ( she's going to see Harry Potter with her mum on Friday)
