  • GhengisFarb does his best Sam Kinison Imitation.

DISCLAIMER: Don't take this too seriously as I am by no means a professional stand up comic:

What is with the Legoland team?

I will admit the game is going faster than I had anticipated but no one can tell me why it takes Legoland soooooo long to do their turns. I am almost tempted to propose a Grand Alliance to take them out just because it will DOUBLE THE SPEED of the game.

But we can't do that. Why? BECAUSE NO ONE HAS ACTUAL CONTACT WITH THEM!!!

We have minimaps to have a general idea where there are but not confirmations. Which brings up the next point. What the heck are they doing that takes so long? Its not like they have to negotiate with anyone, no one has contact with them. They are apparently stuck on a deserted island somewhere with only themselves as company. Why can't they plan ahead? Does some massive new piece of information hit them from out of the blue?

Oh my goodness the Worker doesn't eat ham sandwiches?! Let's stop the game and have a poll about another meal to offer him!!

Oh no, that bird looked at me!

Quick, let's switch all our cities to building barracks so we can pop rush Numidean Mercenaries to protect us!

    Grumble, grumble, grumble.

Okay, I'm finished. I feel much better for getting that out of my system.

    Actually, we don't poll much

Until recently, we were extremely slow because our president (Jack_www) was nearly absent of the forum, and our VP (Vondrack) waited systematically 18 hours before playing the turn, which he did about 4 times out of 5.

I have no idea on who is our VP in the Legoland team, now that we had a staff change (Vondrack became prez IIRC - since there wasn't any competition, there wasn't any election, so I'm not sure yet )
Basically, Vondrack is the only one in charge, and even if he gives an enormous time to the game, he still has to sleep sometimes.

I agree we could have a VP from America (Vondrack is European), it would help us going faster.

I realize that, I just thought it was funny. I am by no means angry at anyone, just somewhat curious as to whats up.

      Yay! Vondrack's online!

Even though I'd really like to tease you saying that it was very , I have to admit that it was funny, GhengisFarb

Well, with our recent, *ahem*, regieme change, we now have a President and VP on two different continents, both of whom stay up very late! Turn-around times for our turns should be greatly accelerated beginning shortly!
I make movies. Come check 'em out.

GF, for the recent turn, I went to bed early because of a headache (and unfortunately, it was just about two hours before the savegame arrived to my mailbox). I played our turn (and named my VP... the elections... or whatever it was... ended only this weekend) immediately after waking up... However, for the last couple of turns (since 2310BC, I practically took over playing our turns from Jack, effectively waiving the 18 hour rule), I do not think it would be justified to complain of Legoland turnaround times, even if the last one took a bit longer. I basically play our turn at the very moment I get to the savegame, most often right after waking up. Just have a look in the Saved Game Thread:

            2310BC ... 1:34
            2270BC ... 6:22
            2230BC ... 3:28
            2190BC ... 1:02
            2150BC ... 1:21
            2110BC ... 7:49
            2070BC ... 2:19
            2030BC ... 0:13
            1990BC ... 0:34
            1950BC ... 9:56
            ===========
            10 turns ... 34:38, average time 3:44

I don't think that's bad... it's basically a fair share of the average 24 hour/turn time. There will always be times where I need to go AFK for a couple of hours in the morning and Zargon will still be sleeping, but generally, our response time should remain well under 4 hours now.

This is, of course, not to say that we were not the ones slowing the game most (by far) in the beginning. As Spiffor said, we had a problem with Jack_www becoming apparently overwhelmed with his RL duties, having too little time for the PtWDG. For that, we apologize one more time.

Ack! Help, help, I'm being dogpiled upon by Legomaniacs!

Besides, I think Trip may hold the record for longest single turn time.

Whatever Legoland is doing, it seems to be working. They're winning by quite a margin.

What is happening? Trip Invicta is trying to beat us in the slowest team contest ?

They have decided that whatever you are doing is working so they are sitting on the game save to see if it will increase their civ score as much as it has yours.

They gained about 20 points in the past week, it couldn't hurt any.
