How can Echtelion be a member of both Lux Invicta and Glory of War?

  • #2
I think the short answer is "no."
I make movies. Come check 'em out.

Well, he is. Check both civgroups. He's never posted anything, but still.

The fact that you can see him as a dual-member does not mean he actually is an APPROVED member of both teams. One becomes listed as a civgroup member as soon as he clicks the "join" link... but he has to be authorized by the team leader to be able to visit the private team forum. I seriously doubt Echtelion is authorized by two different teams.

for example i can be civ group member of all the team (and i was at one point until trip approved me, i just left all other). I guess i can still do that if i like other team's logo but there's only one cool ptw demo icon = the nerv insignia...
          :-p

I thought your logo was the Carl's Junior Star? Its actually a symbol for nerve gas?

For a moment I thought that Ecthelion started to play Civ3.

I'm not sure who used it first but I think referring to these individuals as "groupies" is an appropriate term. I think people who "join" our team civgroups but have no desire/make no attempt to become an actual part of the teams is something we will have to learn to live with.

Perhaps some thinning of the lines is required. IMHO group leaders or officials appointed by them should alert inactive members that they will be removed from the group if they will continue to be inactive, and take the appropriate actions if those "groupies" remain inactive.
However, I fear that we may discover that most teams aren't significantly bigger than Vox Controli after they remove the inactive members. At least Vox has a certain distinguishable quality to their members - less members means more dedicated members. Or at least, so it appears from the outside.

The Role Play Team, despite being rather large, has only 1 inactive member (and there's been some talk about what to do about him).

The reason is that we give our many members (you might call them "groupies") something to do while everyone waits around for the save file
