  • Instant Messaging...

Ok change of subject here for sec

Just downloaded the new "Lite" ICQ as an alternative to PM's so that no 'poly rules are broken or bent. I've had it before, but hated it earlier, and now am giving it another shot. So far so good, eh?

What I would really love to see happen would be if somehow all the Foreign Ministers of the teams would decide on an instant messaging program that we all can use to communicate privately, or semi-privately, depending on your choices. Instant messages, chats, you name it they've got it.

May I suggest all the foreign ministers download ICQ? There is a "lite" version which I am running that is only 1.7 megs, and connection speed does not matter. It's instant, it's usable, it's user-friendly.

I think it will make foreign affairs that much easier to run. You can even save the .log file so you can show your teammates what was spoken if you want.

Chats are interesting too. You can have as many people as you want in one chat. Imagine a meeting between 3 or 4 ambassadors, all of them hammering out issues like borders and wars, trades, agreements, alliances, etc. Think of the possibilities!

Okay I know some of you out there already have it and I'm sorry if I'm wasting your time with this by telling you what you already know, but I'm just hoping somehow we can find a way to make ambassador communications easier and more fluid, like real life...

What do the rest of the teams here think? yay or nay or Meshelic you're a moron? any input would be really nice...thank you.

I like the idea. But then, I'm not a Foreign Minister, so I don't really care

    Edited: Uhhh, I almost forgot: Meshelic you're a moron - j/k

That will let people communicate whether they use AIM, ICQ, or MSN.

Just for genreal information, Trillian'll also work with ICQ (or whatever service). I believe that there's also a java based web version for ICQ, though I'm not sure...

I'm not a Foreign Minister -- my team doesn't even have any at this time -- but if it matters, I'm fine with using whatever.

Yeah, I guess I could download the lite ICQ, for diplomatic reasons...

OR, on the other hand, I could cut off all diplomatic channels to you, and invade you. I would not have to put up for your cries of mercy...

Downloaded it right after you suggested to do so, and was really impressed. It's a good program, and that fact that it's compatible with ICQ, AIM, MSN, etc is really nice.

MSN is the only part of Trillian that I don't use.

i dont like trillian for IRC. not enough script-ability.

if they added fully functional scripting to all the clients, they'd have one hell of a program there.

Trillian is fine for IRC. I haven't done scripting since I had this Book of NIM quote script.

Is this because you are not content with trillian's support for MSN or just simply because you don't have windows messenger account.
                            :-p

Its because no one I need to talk to only has MSN so there is no incentive to set up an account if I'd have no contacts on my list.
