Besides, the name of this poll is kind of misleading

SHOULD minister discussions be public? Yes, only to their own team, but it sounds more like here that people are required to show private messages to the rest of the teams. oops.

a better poll question would have been SHOULD Minister's be able to go public with PM's?

oh well. Trip you did good either way.

I guess it's simple! If we talk about espionage here we don't talk about espionage in a game fixed up in rules. We talk about espionage in all the strange ways a human mind can think of! We are humans. We break rules. That's fact. Every one of us could be tempted to use secrets he knows about for his own advantage! No doubt about that! So forget about rules of espionage that no one will keep. If you want to keep something realy secret start growing some paranoia friends......

The problem here does not derive from human nature (a subject I agree with you on), but Apolyton Forum Rules, which clearly state that the publishing of an Apolyton Boards PM (Private Message) in the public boards w/o explicit permission of the person who sent the PM is expressly forbidden and can get the offender banned from the boards to Mingapulco (and has).

The admins for Apolyton have been very good about enforcing this rule here, something for which we have generally been extremely thankful. However, the rule obviously creates something of a complication for conducting a multiplayer game

Oh, thank you! It proofs true again, that beeing able to read is an advantage which i don't use sometimes.

Now i see the point in this discussion. I'd say that this rule should not be applied concerning the PM send for the Demogame.

Then how are ministers to communcate in private? Through email? There could be dozens of foreign ministers, ambassadors and such over time, and maybe some people here want to retain SOME of their privacy off the threads.

PM is really one of the few resources that would do so very well here...

You can find numerous ways to communicate privately... email, PM, IRC, one of the messengers, etc. However, someone involved in that conversation can still go and tell everyone what happened.

Perhaps the foreign ministers may be wise to exchange information so they may hold chats on ICQ or Messenger...
