  • Multisite DemoGame : What do we want ?

Well, I've been thinking on this for some time...
In the Multisite DemoGame, do we want to win at all costs, with the best strategists working without intereference from less-good players ?
Or do we want to have a big, very specific experience as a Civ community, and invite as many people as possible to join the fun ?

These 2 possibilities have both their edges and flaws, and I'd understand both have their defenders.
On the one hand, a gathering our best strategists, with an experience in MP DemoGames , will do wonders to make Apolyton even brighter among the Civ's communities.
OTOH, having large teams will really give a stronger sense of community, and could prove more fun. The cost might be a lowering of our strategical skills (and a lowering of chances to win), because of the expanded time needed to discuss, the misled votes of players inexperienced in MP DemoGames etc.

We've been approached once by another site for a multisite DemoGame, but all they talked about were teams with 5-15 members (what we have now within 'Poly). I don't know what our opponents will decide between small numbers and large numbers.

But we, what do we want ?

It seems Poly has both smaller, exclusive teams and larger, more open teams. I think we will find our way.

btw, will other sites want to compete in a game with 3 or 4 Poly teams? civ3.de does. That's good. Will other sites trust that Poly teams will be just as likely to kill each other as them?

In the multisite game, I imagined 'Poly would be represented by only one team, as would CFC do, Civ3.de do etc.
If several Civs are played by 'Poly, then I guess the question isn't relevant

I think this is a GREAT idea... whereas in the 'poly DemoGames I want to have fun more than anything, when it comes to the other sites...

        One civ per site.

Our team should be as big as people want to make it, but with good 'structure' provided by the DemoGame vets.

          This is the multiSite DemoGame.

          "The Apolyton Invitational"

Currently one other site has joined but I'm sure there will be others for the "Second Apolyton Invitational".

(Is this post egotistical or what?)

BTW, I'd like to suggest that we invite some more sites.

Sullla and some others run the "Realms Beyond" site, and seem to be very proficient.

And I've heard that some guy named Barry Caudill and some of his buddies are not so bad either...
