  • Initial Name the Planet Poll

This poll exists for the purpose of establishing what the top choices are for a planetname.

What would you like our planet the PTW Democracy Game to be called?

    1. Apolytonia
    2. Apolyton
    3. Apolytonus
    4. Mingapulco
    5. Bob
    6. Rupert
    7. Maailma
    8. Ouroboros
    9. Terra Incognito
    10. Abstain (as in not voting, you smart-alec)

The top 4 options can be taken into the next poll. That poll will then determine the top 2 options, and the third poll will determine the winner (unless it's a tie ). If anything gets a CLEAR MAJORITY, however (including abstains - thus abstains count as no-votes for this), I suppose we can just go with that choice.

I figure at least one of the Apolyton-whatever names will survive the first poll, so don't fret about if you pick one Apolyton-based name that none of them will make it.

This poll will last 3 days.

    Mingapulco! Mingapulco! Mingapulco!

    From the Apolyton Civ3 NewZ:

"Ming [is] Apolyton`s long-time "Off-Topic Forum" moderator and administrator... For those who are unfamiliar, `Mingapulco` is the hither land where those who banished from the Apolyton forums [go] for bad behaviour."
Mingapulco is also the heartland province of Apolytonia in the single-player Civilization 3 Democracy Game.

The newZ piece cited above was about Civ3 actually making an Aztec city named "Mingapulco" apparently in honor of Apolyton's Ming and his banishment of people to Mingapulco.

I think it would be amusing at the very least to have our hellish world of Apolytonians fighting each other named "Mingapulco" and wholly appropriate at most It could be said that the slaves working the fields and the people killed when the despots break out their whip to do pop rushes are the hordes of people banished to Mingapulco

I still say Maailma sounds outrageously cool

Mingapulco is a city you dweebs.

Apolytonus. It sounds like a planet.

Although, I'd laugh my ass off if Bob won. I can see the newz update now... "The Glory of War has been rid from Bob by the Builders"

Wake up NYE.... your deam posting again.

Apolyton. Like I said before, were all Earthlings (except for GK) no matter where on Earth we are from. We are also all Apolytonians. I think that, as stupid as this sounds, we should pick this name to make sure that we all will continue to remember that come time for the Multi-site PTW-DG, we will all once again be on the same side.

A vote for APOLYTON is a vote for the Multi-site game!

Just remember, I think A. C. Clarke said it first, that it is wholy innapropriate to call this planet earth when it is over 70% ocean.

I highly doubt any otion will have 50%. Should we make a runoff ?
                        I'm in favour.

Edit : nevermind, Arnelos clearly stated this poll would lead to runoff poll(s) in the first post.

                          good idea
Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able? Then he is not omnipotent. Is he able, but not willing? Then he is malevolent. Is he both able and willing? Then whence cometh evil? Is he neither able nor willing?

"In todays weather report from Bob... a Gathering Storm petered out over LegoLand."

Damn. That has too much potential.

Except it's more like "... a Gathering Storm lashed several cities on Bob today, casualties were high and it is feared the fury of the storm may carry [some civ] to their doom."
